He proved to be quite a vesatile player the previous season when he had a spell at centre back and full back. Another frustrating thing about Peter is his temperament, often shooting his mouth off and falling foul of the referees and blaming others in the team when things went wrong around him.
To finish really positively though, I will recount his real moment of heroism away against York two seasons ago, when he got his nose well splattered but played on very bravely and scored a trademark equalizer in the 90+third minute to give us an important draw!
Thanks Peter and good luck in the future but please don't score against us!
ps. We'll give you some stick if you play against us at The Crown!!!
Totally agree with this summing up of Mr. Murphy & also wish him luck but can't help thinking that his little idiosynchrasies might not be forgiven as easily by the Wycombe fans as they were by the Stanley faithful ..... time will tell

Re: Murphy to join Wycombe Wanderers

I thought that last season he showed a greater deal of maturity than in previous years and his mouth didn't run away quite as often.

Merf was a great club player as he had grown up with the club and displayed a good deal of extra attitude that made up for his lack of technical talent. He is one of those players that every team needs a couple of but my concern for him now would be that his attitude and effort alone may not be enough at other clubs.

All the best Peter.

Re: Murphy to join Wycombe Wanderers

Do we not bother with transfer fees now and just let our better players go for nothing?

Re: Murphy to join Wycombe Wanderers

If they haven't got a contract signed we haven't got the choice of asking for money for them.

He is still on the transfer list at Bury and to be honest he is now well down the pecking order after Kelvin Etuhu has signed and we are looking to bring in more players

Another player on the transfer list is Ashley Grimes (possibly going to Cheltenham) but one of the reasons he joined us rather than them last year is he wanted to remain in the north west.

Can,t see us paying for Proccy so it,s either a loan or he rips his contract up.

Re: Murphy to join Wycombe Wanderers

Peter scored the only goal in Wycombe's 1-0 win at Barnet yesterday:
Report: Barnet 0-1 Wycombe
