I don't want to see the crowd stood around talking, I want to see and hear Liverpool like scenes with everybody singing, full of passion and pride. I don't want one line from the whole song relating to us, I want every word, every line, every chorus to stir the emotions. I don't want the same song that every Tom, Dick and Harry Club the length and breadth of the Country plays, I want a song for us, and only us. I don't want Thin Lizzies Boys are back in Town, I want Carter USMs Impossible Dream!

Whos with me?

Well Deisel I dunno if you are running for office or not, but after such a rousing speech youve got my vote mate!!..... I only suggested Thin Lizzie, as I am old enuff to remember them ..........never heard of Carter USM .....but hey!!

In fact why dont you record your post and we could play that, it made me think.

Not a bad idea, me saying that speech over Land of Hope and Glory

And Baldy, Carter USM have done a version of Impossible Dream, as have a million other artists. The song was originally worte for a play called La Mancha. It's much more upbeat than Andy Williams, a little quicker, but it's the final leg of the song that is absolutely fantastic. Me, Maccawozzagod and Willie Miller 'sang' it at FGR, all the way through I think Spud may have been involved in that too

Re: Music to Run Out to and When we Score...

Am I missing something here, but I find "The Impossible Dream" by Carter USM to be very slow and not at all rousing! On Wednesday I played Sparkie's choice "Out of The Frying Pan" by Meatloaf, and thought it sounded superb - what does anyone else think?

Perhaps the final choice should be with Coley and the Team, after all it is their match.

Since when? Last I heard they get paid to play football and be at the ground listening to whatever music is on...The fans are the ones who pay to watch and listen.. Choice should be with the fans if theres gonna be a choice...

Its not Coleys or the teams match at all.. its the poeple who pay them..

My opinion

Re: Music to Run Out to and When we Score...

Andy Williams' Impossible Dream is very slow and sang as 'crooned'.

Carters' is a bit more shouty and faster when it gets to the chorus.

I think that anything loud that reaches crescendo is a good choice. But, the reason why The Ultras want to have an input into the final song or two is because it is they who are trying to get up for it and reach that high that certain songs give you. The people who sing will usually have a penchant for more cultish types of song rather than Meatloaf type songs (nowt wrong wi' owd Meaty though)

I'm with Diesel on the atmosphere building though. It should be that loud that you can't hear yourself talking and have no option but to sing. Of course, it means nothing without a roof.

Re: Music to Run Out to and When we Score...

The version I gave you Tannoy Man, was Andy Williams, nothing close to Carter USM Style of Music. As for the speed of the song, does that matter? I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles and You'll Never Walk Alone are hardly fast tempo, but Christ, they go down a storm with their respective Clubs. Fair enough, Meat Loaf or Thin Lizzy may sound great when the team runs out, but the lyrics mean jack to our Club, and hundreds of Clubs play the same songs. We should have our very own song, one that people will associate with us. This is my own personal though on the matter. Carter USM's 'Impossible Dream' may or may not catch on with the fans, but I'd bet my right nut it'd stand more chance of making an impact on the fans than 'Boys are back in town' or owt else for that matter.
