? new Defender

According to WWW.newsnow.co.uk/newsfeed/?name=Accrington+Stanley

defender Simon Grand from Carlisle United is set to come to Stanley on loan, He cannot get a regular place in the first team, according to the news feed. He can play at Centre Half or Left Back. We have heard all these rumours before, why would we want a Centre Half?

Re: ? new Defender

If Steven Gerrard wanted to come we wouldn't say no we have too many midfielders would we ? If he's good let him come.

Re: ? new Defender

I think it would be a top addition to the squad if he is a left footed player, the only one we have at the moment is Sean Doherty and though Leam is excellent in his role when fit and Edwards coped at left full back against the Bulls, a left sided defender would be invaluable cover.
Can he play on the wing as well?

Re: ? new Defender

I Personally dont see the point in bringing a defender in as we have Welch, Rocky, Phil, N'Da, Bains and Foyle all good enough to play at this level.

We are screamin out for a striker, but are trying to bring in a centre back when we have 6 good enough players to play in that role.

I'm sure that Cav played at left full back against the Bulls.
Ashley Foyle has now left the club.
Welchy got booked on Saturday so he is now looking at a suspension and with other suspensions looming maybe some extra cover is needed.

Re: ? new Defender

Maybe so, but I think the striker situation is more urgent. Other teams seem to be signing loan players without any problem - Paul Ince has signed John Murphy from Blackpool, he would have been an excellent addition for us and with our contacts with Blackpool it's a bit surprising that we didn't get there first.

Thanks Jeff, I presumed Phil played at left back because of the team sheet.
Even so, a left sided defener would be very useful in my opinion.
