Re: new stadium ideas
I would only build a new stadium if we go up, otherwise we won't get the crowds to give it the same atmosphere as the crown.

Re: new stadium ideas
What about a stadium like the one on the Bet365 advert. If the football gets boring you press a button and it moves all over the place

Re: new stadium ideas
Personally I like Fatgaz's idea. but I would reduce the capacity to 6,500 for now with the proviso that extra space could be added without the need for major re-development i.e. add to the current infrastructure.
capacities would be 2000 for main stand 1500 for the opposite stand (Whinney Hill) and 1500 for the home and away ends (all sides to be covered).
If possible, put the changing rooms under one of the stands (Whinney Hill?) and totally redevelop the main stand to allow for a number of corporate boxes with facilities below for catering.

You will have to reduce the capacity of the away end to 1,000 so you can get all 105,000 Stanley season ticket holders in

Re: new stadium ideas
Thing is its about trying to make stanley self sufficient, far as i'm aware, surely a better chance of attaining that, wi a new ground wi other facilities, that cannot be incorporated at the crown?

Ooops - didn't engage brain and got the dates wrong - I invaded the pitch at Peel Park when we won the Lancs Comb Div 2 title, and saw the first game at the Crown. But I have to admit I didn't get properly back on board until the Conference winning season, so guilty as charged m'lud.

quite right. Unfortunately football even at this level, can't be sustained by the saturday efforts alone - if we could then I'd fight tooth and nail to remain at The Crown. The Crown has been our home for over 40 years and carries many, many memories. The efforts of those early custodians who used to collect bent nails and rob timber from kids bonfires should never be forgotten, neither more should Peel Park. We could redevelop The Crown for 20% of the cost of a new ground and it would more than do for us, and no doubt we'd make it work to a fashion. But we move on.
The Community lads need to be able to offer more and better opportunities than they do. The matchday club is a reasonable success as it is I believe, and that involves walking the kids from Moorhead to the ground. How much better would that be if the coaching on offer was in the bowels of the stadium with matchday noise echoing through the halls. The kids would be walked out onto the stand in much the same way as Sunday school kids were at church.
Could the commercial team produce far better results if they had improved facilities (their own offices for a start) and maybe the ability to print their own material rather than outsourcing?
Could we make better use of our medical staff if they had their own surgery to work from? Could that be turned into a commercial operation by offering a Sports Injury Clinic open to the public? Could Stanley financial department offer an Insurance policy to all local sportsmen using our surgery as a base?
It sounds silly and by no means is this an offer of an idea, but we have Stanley taxi's in Accrington. Such a taxi firm could be run by Stanley for Stanley from a poky little office at the side of the ground. Like I said its a silly idea and not particularly lucrative, but a few smaller ideas can soon blossom into something that snowballs. Offer the ideas forward and your reward could be to see it to fruition

Re: new stadium ideas
As always thought provoking stuff and one would hope that the Club would take onboard some of the ideas on here when planning/consultation starts to begin as what better place to begin than your customer base.

Re: new stadium ideas
I would like to see the first stone laid for the building of a new ground, but I doubt that I ever will. Even so, it's nice to dream. I think that we will be at the Crown Ground for a long time to come.

Re: new stadium ideas
to generate income, is there a need for a snooker club, skittles alley or darts venue in the town ? If so, maybe these could be incorporated in a new Whinny Hill stand if Stanley crowds can't justify a new stadium. Do the players feel any positive benefit in kicking towards a 'home' end - if so, why not house away fans in a side pen and then we can have double-bubble to encourage the lads. Community-wise, is there a need for a boxing club (with gym for use by our players) - and surely Stanley ladies can put some feminine input to the 'suggestion box'.

Re: new stadium ideas
I'm sure there's enough hairdressers in Accrington already!
I like the idea of all these little companies under one big umbrella. Lots of top teams do it, I'm sure if you wanted anything with a Man Utd logo on you could get it! When I got my tickets from the Crown I was chatting to Lew about how things are and he said only 2 people currently generate income for Stanley (excluding player sales). A taxi firm, gym, boxing club, snooker club, corporate boxes, proper ticket office, fancy offices, conference facilities, Starbuck's would all help make Stanley the community club we want it to be.
Does anyone remember Everton's bid to have a Tesco in their new ground?

Not sure what context that was in but I reckon there's well over a thousand every home game
