new stadium ideas
as a bit of a distraction from the play-offs
No doubt Ilyas has researched the idea as thoroughly as possible and is probably continuing to do so, and there are no guarantees that it will even happen, but what ideas do we the fans think need to be incorporated into any new stadium build?
We know that he reads this forum and views it as an ideal medium for fan to board interaction, so perhaps if even just one nugget is incorporated that hadn't been even considered then its worthwhile.
I'd like to start by offering that in order to maintain some linkages to our heritage that perhaps we should incorporate the design element of our current stadium (the good bits anyway) into any new build. The main stand and the Clayton End are reasonably well constructed and are different than the usual identikit breeze block things that keep cropping up.
Obviously they''d be on a reasonably larger scale but the good bit of what we have is that they offer unrestricted views. I'd like the roof extending backwards as well so that any 'facilities' offered are under cover (and bricked in).

Re: new stadium ideas
Id be happy with a similar design to the pirelli stadium in burton. Its the perfect size with a great main stand/ entrance and has everything you need. Indoor snack bar, tvs with scores on etc.
We can only but dream!

Re: new stadium ideas
Whatever the past and my memories of Accrington; many of them painful, I am immensely proud of my association with the town, its history and culture which is centuries old and still developing.
The Stadium should be the centre and heartbeat of the town and its design should recognise these facts.
What I would like to see is:
A Memorial Wall to the Accrington Pals and all those who have served in the service of their Townships and country since; irrespective of Race; Culture, Religion or Politics. I would like this to be funded by the common supporters and people of the area, A Tenner a brick campaign maybe.
Also a Memorial Wall to reflect the history of the townships and surrounding areas and its industries and its people, reflecting the benefits and impact on the area.
A living History Museum reflecting the History of the Accrington Stanley through time and the people who have impacted on the Club. This should also focus on obtaining items of historical significance old and modern. This area should also have a strong teaching and learning element to bring a wider and more divers fan base for the club.
A cultural centre and multi faith centre to work for the benefit of the community.
This is just some of the things that I would like to see built around or incorporated into the stadium. If it’s going to be a community club with the community at its heart it must serve the needs of that community 7 days a week, every week of the year. Not just a Football club for Accrington Stanley but the Heart of Accrington.
This is going to be a unique opportunity, nothing should be missed.

A nice flat well drained pitch

Re: new stadium ideas
I like this effort that Brighton have put into their new ground, and its certainly one that I'd want ot visit,
BBC Sport - Football - Behind the scenes at Brighton's new ground
basically they are putting lighting into the away end that will make the walls look the colour of the visitors, as well as putting up pictures on the walls that can be replaced weekly and will feature the away team. Little things but they add up to the feeling that your money is wanted and respected.

Re: new stadium ideas
I think you'd need to make it more than a Stadium purely for the Football, the ability to host other events, concerts & such like thereby giving it a use outside of the Season & enabling the club to accrue profit all year round.

Re: new stadium ideas
Standing area as Wynonie points out is probably the most important thing put perhaps like Morecambe have done with the terracing in such a way should the higher leagues come calling one day it would be a cost effective measure to install seats.
It's hard with new stadiums in that they can become souless places as a few bits in the thread have pointed out already, it is also a balance in terms of coporate and outside footy facilities but one that has to be fully understood to ensure all year round usage and a good income stream from it bearing in mind all the other leisure and meeting venues already in the area in terms of motorway etc. access.
I would like to see a bigger shop for young Lewis to work his magic with which I am sure would be a good income generator.
A proper Supporters Bar not just for use on matchdays but something that can have multi usage.
I like the Bundesliga set-up in terms of what they offer from a fan point of view and maybe Dave in Germany can help on that one?

Re: new stadium ideas
Any sort of ground would be a couple of years down the line, at the moment however a roof on the away end, more toilets and new changing rooms are a must! Stick seats at the bottom half of an away end or make it all seater and make the clayton end all standing again...
Ideas for a new stadium, something small with a home terrace behind one of the goals would do me fine

Re: new stadium ideas
Redevolope what we have may be the way forward, build a macclesfield town type stand down the whinney hill side and put seats behind the current coppice away end with a roof.and remove the seats out of the clayton end

Re: new stadium ideas
Personally I would prefer to stand but most people I can persuade to come either prefer or need to sit. For me the ideal in a new stadium would be seats above and behind the standing home terrace behind the goal - the Stretford End used to have seats behind it when I went there to exercise my red and white scarf in the 62-72 interregnum. Then there could be a decent bar / snack bar / toilet area underneath the seating area (like the Dagger's refurbished away end, which has even got tellys to check the half-time scores etc). That'd do me ....

Re: new stadium ideas
I would have thought redevelopment of the current ground is a no go. The infrastructure around the ground is poor, not to mention any re-development would also probably be objected to by the neighbours.
