New Stanley Book - your opinions requested please

Calling all Stanley fans!
<O</O
If you were to write a history of Accrington Stanley (1968), what do you think would be the most important things to emphasise?

It’s not a hypothetical question as I’m currently approaching the end of writing such a history. It’s called “Accrington Stanley: the club that wouldn’t die” and its out in September (A thumbnail image of the cover is attached below, though it might change a little before publication).

But before I send it off to the publishers, I wanted to put out a general call to you all on the forum to ask for your thoughts and opinions. What do you think have been the most important factors in Stanley winning back their Football League status? Who are the unsung heroes? Who have been your favourite players down the years? Which matches do you remember most vividly and why?

Don’t take these as a definitive list of questions – I’d like to hear from you about whatever you think is under-rated, over-rated, funny, tragic, unknown or anything else about the return of Accrington Stanley that you think important to consider as part of a written history. Basically, if you have something you want to say about Stanley past, present or future, then please contact me on:

I can’t promise that anything you send me will end up in print, but I do promise that I’ll give a mention in the acknowledgements to anyone who provides me with something I can use, and I will confirm with each contributor that they are happy to be acknowledged in this way.

I only have a few weeks remaining before I have to submit to the publishers so I need to hear from you sooner rather than later.<O</O

Thanks very much<O</O
