So who’s fault is that ?
Who constructed the squad ?

Re: Next season??
Lincoln city let 11out of contract players go saying that in these uncertain times they can,t make any positive decisions on out of contract players and have took the action early to give those involved some clarity.

Not remotely surprised.
Their salary structure is one of the best in their division and beats ours hands down.

A retained list is just players who have been offered a new contract on at least equivalent terns and doesn't mean any are staying. Part of putting players on the list is so you can get a development fee and also not pay month's severance pay.

It will be but their accounts posted year end 2019 shows a loss of £2.237,000 roughly whereas Stanley's same period shows a operation profit of £1,790.910 roughly which I would suggest puts us in a better position to ride the pandemic out.

And just to add that Lincoln more often than not played in front of full houses whereas we have the lowest average crowds in league 1 tell me how would you work their budget on nil crowds.

Re: Next season??
Grimsby manager reveals that the club could go bust by September and the decision to let 9 players go to help the club as the worst day in his life.

on the other hand why would any club who had a poor season offer extended contracts to players when they know better ones will become available and a possibility to reduce their wage bill at the same time. that goes for stanley as well as grimsby. afraid its always been a football thing where the rose tinted specs come out where your better players are concerned.

Just for clarity Salary Caps and Squad size limits etc will not apply to next season 20/21 but will at the earliest start the following year 21/22 but that will be with a years transition so unless clubs are planning to offer players contracts of more than 2 years length so as i see it the only difference for the minute will likely be the insertion of a clause that will mean that the renewal of any contract that expires at the end of 21/22 and more importantly 22/23 will be subject to restrictions imposed by the salary cap meaning they will be able to offer contracts on worse terms than the one they were on previously.
My feeling is once the above is confirmed [probrably after the EFL conference which i.m told they are still hoping to hold in person in Portugal but has been compromised by this balmy quarentine lark ] Andy and John arent stupid people if they believe a squad made up of the contracted players plus taking up the options and offering to a couple of the OOC players and those players are realistic and accept that an offer from Accy that may not be the best is still better than risking being thrown onto the scrap heap i believe you may well end up with most of the same established players as last season the difference will be there will be no headroom for taking gambles with players wanting full money.
Speaking with an agent friend of mine hes of the oppinion that there will be a cohort of young players with no financial commitments who will be willing to sign for what pre virus would be what you would call very low wages simply for the chance to stay in the proffessional game and the main driver of this will be that they won't have the NL cushion to rely on any more. He has a lot of other things he believe will come about but there will be no clarity really untill the clubs know how next season will start [wether behind closed doors, in front of restricted crowds [ season tickets holders only ] or even as normal ] and more importantly when that would be.
But somthing to take into consideration is that if you extended/ offered new contacts to existing players [ as opposed to signing new ones ] you could keep them on furlough till the scheme ends/new season starts which might not seem that important but even at Accy could run to an amount well North of 150k a figure that culd then be used to supplement the projected budget.
But if Accy are in need of an experienced Midfielder then they could do a lot worse than to look at Mike Jones released by Carlisle [ and not on massive wages having taken a cut 2 years ago when he last negotiated ] who is looking for a North West based club and whos stats are excellent [ and if you take away the spell under Sheridan are even better than that ] but i.d be pretty sure JC will already be well aware given that they are almost neighbours.

Re: Next season??
Some bits of sense NS, but not 100% correct
The EFL AGM was never going to be in Portugal. For some reason the hotel couldn't do our date. ( last Wednesday to yesterday)
We were using a base in the UK. That was cancelled in March
We're having the "official" AGM (on-line) in mid June.
At present squad salary cap hasn't been finalised as all are concentrating on the exact plan to finish this season.
Agree that, hopefully players will be realistic on new deals, but hearing stories that some players are still not understanding there is no money!!

Ah ok mate I bow to your inside info
I did wonder how they were going to deal with a can we/can't we situation at such a late stage in the day.
But do you agree the cap etc won't start for 12 months or are you saying there is a possibility they will try to introduce it in time for the start of next season ? and have that as the transitional one.
