"I have a greta deal of hope for Mangan. I stand by my assesment of him...'the non league Pippo Inzaghi'!!!" Your having a laugh staveros arent you!! Mangan is quicker, does not dive, and has the sense to watch the line (Inzaghi is always offside!).....

This is all rather academic.

If and when we go up you will not even recognise the team which will take to the pitch next season.

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

Elliott, Tamika and maybe Twiss for me.

Elliott - Contract Expires
Tamika - Dont think he would turn down League 2 football
Twiss - Same reason as Tamika

Thats unless Hereford/Morcambe go up ........

I think FC has it pretty much spot on in his assesment. We could deffo use a centre half, an experienced player with some added class IMO.

The centre midfield I think will look light next year so again I would say we need somebody in there. We need someone to replace the grit that we lost when Anthony Barry departed so that Craney can bomb on safe in the knowledge that his partner will do the dirty work.

On the right yes we could probably use a player. Im a big fan of Jags but the squad is wafer thin just now so we deffo need some numbers if nothing else.

Up front I personally think one player would suffice. Brown will cope at League 2 im sure and I have a greta deal of hope for Mangan. I stand by my assesment of him...'the non league Pippo Inzaghi'!!! Mullers looks as good as ever but what I would really like to see is a player of genuine class added. Im thinking someone who can do both jobs, hold the ball up AND weigh in with goals.

I saw a player who impressed me at IES this season but I cant remember which team he plays for. Steve Burton he was called. Looked a cut above to me. If he's attainable I say get the ****** signed!!
Maybe your lot at Everton are 'pieces of meat' but our lads are much more than that - they're part of the family

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

...you'd have to pay a fee of over £100K to get him out of his contract which has another year to run. In addition the talk of Perkins being a target would also command a similar fee as he is home grown and under 23.

Let's hope that IF it comes down to next Tuesday we can do it for you and also help our cause too.

The thought of the North West's premier non-league teams getting promoted together would be superb for the region. How Radio Lancs will cope with 6 league clubs will be interesting!

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

Ive just done some checking on the guy Steve Burton I mentioned, Crawley he plays for. His scoring record isnt great this season, 9 in 30. Not bad though for the type of player he looked. He is only 23 years old and comes from Doncaster so he might well fancy a move back north? Looks like he hasn't played a great deal of football over the last few years so I dont know if he's had injury troubles or what. If he checks out though id think he's the right calibre and age of player that we could make on.

A grand piece of meat!!

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

Steve Burton started his career at Ipswich as a trainee, he did not make any appearances for them, he went on loan to Boston for two months in 2002 and made six appearances for them. In March 2003 he signed for Doncaster on a fre, he started three games for them and left for Scarborough in June 2004. He started 10 games for them, he had two months on loan at Leigh RMI in 2004 and started two games for them, he had a month's loan at Canvey Island in 2005 and started six games for them, he signed for Crawley in March 2005 anjd has made approx forty starts for them.

It would be a shame if the current squad could not be held together for next season which should hopefully be in League 2. I cannot think of a single player in the current squad that would not be able to hold their own in the higher league.

If the current team is to be completely broken up, what incentive is there for them winning the Conference?

Re: Next Seasons Team.....

Don't think there is anything wrong with discussing additions but just not ommissions!!!!!!!

Definately need a keeper on loan for the season or permanently

We have ample full backs for me

A new Centre half with League Experience

A new Cntral Midfielder with League Exoperience

Then let the trials commence & hand pick the best releasee's!!!!

The Ultras also need some new flags!!!! with League Experience & a new suitcase with wheels

I tripped over that bloody thing at Southport.

I can't see the team changing enormously if we were to go up. People said the same thing about the team when we went up to the Conference, but the following season things were pretty much the same (a couple of new faces, but nothing major).
Too many changes would be a bad thing anyway, as to build a new team between May and August would be very difficult to do, especially a team that was going to hold its own.

Do you **know** something mate? I noticed you made a very definite sounding comment in the roof thread as well, spill your guts if you've got some info!!

I agree with what you're saying anyway. I personally expect at least Craney and Roberts to move onto bigger and better things and im sure Cav could play at a higher level too.

Exciting times for everyone really.

I agree with your sentiments but not with your propositions, John.

Two players in particular spring to mind immediately. And that's where they'll stay for now.

The incentive which all players share is being elevated to a higher level of the pyramid and thus attracting better wages, plus recognition of their achievements. Being professionals, they can easily slot into any new team at their established level.

Football is a team sport played by individuals who (rightly, I believe) possess their own individual ambitions.

Although I agree we need a new goalkepper next season, I dearly hope we keep Danny Alcock on the books. Although he's been unlucky with injuries, he has usually shone when called upon to do a job (last season) and is still young.
