No Reserves

Next seasons reserve league with a certain Accrington Stanley missing.

West Division
Burnley, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Oldham Athletic, Preston North End, Tranmere Rovers and Wrexham

Personally think they have made the right decision, costly exercise with no real benefit. Just as easy to keep squad players fit with a few behind closed doors friendlies.

Re: No Reserves

Not sure really nothing to match a competitive game to keep people fit and ready to step up if required. People on the fringe who are not getting a competitive game might feel they have less chance to prove themselves and look elsewhere before resigning ?

I think anybody who was on the fringe last season probably won't re-sign anyway unless they enjoy playing reserve football occasionally. I would guess they would try and go lower down the leagues and get regular football.

Bury & Shrewsbury have also opted out

Re: No Reserves

Bit of a see-saw one with regard the reserves in I like watching the odd reserve game a chance to check on the younger squad members sometimes coming through, a chance for players perhaps coming back from injuries or suspensions to get game time under the belt as Shrum say's.

On the other hand suspensions also count from reserve games and likewise injuries could happen in reserve games plus games I presume still have to be stewarded and facilities open.

I suppose the bigger question is does that mean we are looking at a smaller squad?

Within that more quality/experience/chance of keeping what we have got in players within budgets?

Re: No Reserves

alot of teams are doing the same, Grimsby and Leeds to name a couple..

Cost is stupid and we averaged 2 games a month, waste of time. Friendlies are much easier and cheaper for the club
