Almost. There's no cash on the gates so you buy a ticket at a special 'away' kiosk outside (not the main ticket office) then present it at the gate.

Re: Northampton Away.

For those non-Accy based fans heading by train, London Midland trains are doing a half price 'Summer Sale' though you have to book it online and travel on London Midland services only. If you are traveling from or via London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Stoke, Crewe it may be useful to you.
£11.75 for a return London - Northampton, £15 Liverpool - Northampton.

Half price summer rail sale between 23 July and 4 September

You need to select the London Midland services only optionto get all available trains. Main advantage is that you canuse it on any LM service and are not restricted to certain trains.

Re: Northampton Away.

Thanks for the tip, SM. I was planning to drive to Northampton but a train from Stafford looks very affordable at these prices; with a railcard it's about the same as a gallon of petrol. It's a shame they don't run from Manchester but I suppose you could always change at Crewe. It's worth bearing in mind for Barnet at the beginning of September as well.

Re: Northampton Away.

There are a few downsides mainly that their trains are slower. Am looking at going to Vale on the 20th. It's two hours plus from Euston to Stoke on their trains but can live with the extra hours journey each way when it's only £14 return.
As for Northampton London Mildand trains are virtually the only ones that go there.
It's a bit of a trek from the station (turn right then fork right a bit further down) and opposite direction to the town centre. The buses from station to ground and back are usually okay and don't get too snarled up in traffic.
This map might help.... (station is in square C6 and ground in E6)

Main advantage for an old soak like me going by train is that I can have a pint or two and best pub for proper ale is the Malt Shovel on Bridge St to the South of the town centre, ironically opposite the Carlsberg brewery (square F6). They do some decent local brews and a nice (if sometimes a little too hot) pie.
