Re: Northampton Thread

Great first half, Shakin Stevens for much of the second. Annoying that ref gifts them a goal that cost us clean sheet, no way should that have been a free kick. Multiple contenders for MOM Cisask (great saves, he's been tremendous since he came in), Edwards ( fantastic defending week in week out), Procter (just for sheer effort), Joyce (lynchpin of the last eight to ten games),Ryan (could watch this guy play all day long), Craney (Goals and guile) and Gornell (Work rate once again). Also honourable mentions to both full backs who seem to have got some stick recently (Winnard especially). Both played very well today. Very disappointed with the crowd today after the week's events. Come on Accy!! It's a fiver on Tuesday for exceptional, live in the flesh footy!

Since we had about 1600 home fans on Tuesday you are probably right, but if it looks like rain, the denizens of Accy won't be creeping out of their little huts.

Re: Northampton Thread

Typical "gary johnson" football from Northampton, stop Acci playing football and get the ball forward early (boring long ball),play for set pieces from corners and set pieces.
Hessey lost his head following an elbow, and was falling into there hands by giving the ball away and conceeding needless free kicks.
This is not recommended when you have a seven foot tall centre back ( have to mention deano, who marked him and give him nothing).
It was a massive desicion to pull hessey off,but the correct one.
Defenders played well, but the key men today were Proctor and Joyce who were excellent.
When these players play well it allows Craney and Sean to influence the game in the final third.
Jimmys workrate is worth a mention also

Re: Northampton Thread

Luke Joyce would have been my MOM yesterday, he broke up play so well without committing himself to silly tackles or ineffective ones that left him out of the game.

However my focus throughout the game seemed to wander to the ariel battles and after he lost out in one after about 5 mins, Proccy won every header he went for until finally coming second best twice just as the board went up for added on time at 90 mins, both of those were against the 7 foot centre half Northampton had an he had run 20-30 yards to challenge for them in both cases. It was just complete DOMINANCE, which considering the hieght they had in there side was stunning!!!

I will also mention that Phil Edwards appeared to get his hand stamped on in the first couple of minutes and I saw him mangling it about an shaking it alot, then after half time he came out wih it fairly well strapped up. Having been on the reciving end of that style of finger strapping as a keeper, it may well be that he either dislocated it or broke it!

Re: Northampton Thread

Another great result! Well done Coley, Jimmy and the boys. Thought that there were 12 MOM's today... they were all superb and brave. Agree that it could have been a good idea to rest some legs in last 25 Minutes and give the subs a run out. Looking at the run in we could get some disruption from injuries, (hope Jimmy is ok?), and even suspensions, (one or two have racked up anumber of bookings.. Hessey?). It is likely that some of the rest of the squad will need to play, and having a run out could have been a good idea. We are scoring more goals and now we are playing like we expect to score goals which is breeding a growing confidence. Alex Cisak is playing suberbly and I have been trying to get the Ultras to come up with a song for him. For cobblers goal though he just took his eye of the free kick taker to double check his position by glancing down to his right hand post exactly as the free kick was taken. Made him react just a fraction too late, otherwise I really think he could have saved it. He really has been a revelation since coming in.. high balls and crosses give me much less fear now. Bavs did really well too in the wetter and colder part of the season. Two great keepers now! Bring a friend on Tuesday and sell the gate... Let's all do our utmost to get right behind Ilyas, the management and the players.. we could be making history in the next few weeks... ON STANLEY ON

Not much chance with that free kick....however it didn't help that their big clown of a centre half (No 5) kept dancing around in front of him, trying to obscure his view when he was trying to line up the wall. With those sort of antics / tactics hardly suprising that he may have "lost his bearings".

Pleasing to see that, despite a performance that looked a little short of what we'd consider the norm, knowing how well these lads can play at times...we've still picked up the three points !! A sign of a good side!!!

I'd have to agree with the other comments about the gate yesterday...poor considering last week's events and the fact the team are reaching the heights that they are doing
