Re: Northampton Town Match Thread............
Impressed with Cooky's interview. He's not getting carried away and highlighted our age old weakness when under pressure in defence in hoofing clear without keeping possession. I can excuse our current patched up defence, but he won't!

Re: Northampton Town Match Thread............
Valid point Redraine
Cookie comes across well in the interviews and is starting to mould the squad, it must be a frustration with the injuries we have keeping out first team regulars but sometimes restrictions in the squad numbers eligible can form a closer unit which I think we have looked more of over the last few games with perhaps now the shape of the side looking better around the pitch.
It is still a work in progress but there is still very much to play for whilst giving Cookie the chance to perhaps experiment with formations and players.

Re: Northampton Town Match Thread............
Brilliant game all round , what a team! on my walk home heard two men behind say they never been to Stanley before but had been given two tickets via work. Their usual football venues are Ewood Park and Turf Moor. But they say it going to be Stanley more often after what they had just witnessed.Say no more

Re: Northampton Town Match Thread............
Toto was man of the match for me. Akinfenwa was using all of his presence to try and bring other players into the game, and all of his experience in order to induce fouls from our defenders. Toto dealt with this calmly and read his player well. A great performance.
Podge worked extremely hard up front. I did think that he would benefit if Murphy pushed further forward through the middle rather than drifting out wide; almost offering a second striker role when attacking (think Yaya Toure of City here). Our shape was pretty good all the way through. Devitt and Grant caused a lot of problems for the Cobblers when attacking, but our full backs suffered due to a lack of tracking back by the midfield when we were without the ball; exemplified in the way McIntyre was turned inside out by Silva. Devitt needs to improve on this, but otherwise he was almost unplayable; creating space and chances all the way through the game.
I thought Northampton's equalising goal was a foul on Kiernan and still think so having seen the replay. Then again, as has been mentioned, the officials had a shocker. The referee missed a stonewall penalty for us at 1-1 and the liners showed a flaky understanding of the offside rule.
Northampton are a good side but I thought overall we deserved the win. We looked fit all the way to the final whistle and our winning goal was superb.
Well done Cooky and Leam. Bring on the Shrimps.

Re: Northampton Town Match Thread............
I thought it was clear that I meant in a tactical, positional sense rather than comparing the two players. Obviously I wasn't as clear as I thought, and my later attempt at sarcasm was found wanting. Apologies.

Good man.. No need to apologise, even if you really did mean it the way it came across.
