Re: Northampton town match thread
George Hudson was last Stanley Player to score down yon in 61, so we must be due one?

Re: Northampton town match thread
Well my first two pence worth in a few weeks.
VERY VERY poor im afraid, especially going forward. Webber & Big Kay both had absolute shockers and where totally ineffective. Why we felt the need to lump it up to their center halves for 70 minutes is anybody's guess. They would still be clearing them come 10pm tonight.
Fair play they scored a decent goal, but we made the bottom side in the division look good at times...........
I have a huge amount of respect for JB and the way he has turned it around the last few weeks but today we where simply NEVER at the races. Bentinelli once again proved he is a star of the future with a brilliant penalty save (never should have been given ). Aldred again was a rock at the back, but Deano looked shattered to me. Maybe his fitness isn't quite up to two games in a week yet.
Other than that........ ZERO positives for me personally. Not a good day at the races.

Re: Northampton town match thread
Agree totally with Smudgie's summary, spot on in all respects IMHO. Fell into the trap of trying to play the ball in the air too many times, and Northampton's giant defence just gobbled them up. Not sure Kayode and Webber could have done much more as they were closely marked, and what few flicks and headers that Kayode did manage to lay off came to nought. Didn't think Mingoia did anything wrong but don't blame JB for trying to make changes. Back to reality in what is looking like a long, hard season for many teams.

Re: Northampton town match thread
Missed the game today(went watching chester v barrow,but don't tell anyone !,)
and I feared we would struggle against a team that have started to get there act together.
We don't seem to conceed a lot of goals but you have to score to get a result and today we didn't.
IMHO webber should be used as an impact player coming off the bench when the game slows down, but can't complain at recent results and JBs decisions/team selection

Re: Northampton town match thread
1 nil away defeat is not great, but compared to other away days its hardly a hammering.
Whats important is the next game and how the team and manager respond

Re: Northampton town match thread
Far from a hammering if you look at the stats DAV...Accrington..more shots on and off target...more corners...alot less fouls....and 54% of play!!!

For me Webber is one of our best players but is no longer a striker - you are a fan of 4-3-3 - how about a deep set Joyce with Webber and Murphy a little further on?

Re: Northampton town match thread
I too think Webber is one of our best talents but he hasn't got the legs for midfield.
Write off today's result. Historically we've always been dragged down to the level of those beneath us even when we're playing well. There aren't many lower levels than Boothroyd's brand of football.

Re: Northampton town match thread
You have a point there shaker,we never scored there never mind win!.
Interesting to see they played 6-4 Platt and put there top scorer on the bench, that tells you there game plan.
Saying that,on paper they have a bloody good team, far better than there league position suggests(haven't they got points off fleetwood and chesterfield recently).
Not too disheartened as we appeared to have created a few chances and competed and finished the game still in with a chance of getting something.
Positive news --Stevenage are dropping like a stone

Re: Northampton town match thread
We were 8 unbeaten, no-one wins forever more is the way i view this, also they just had 2 great results against top teams, we got a fortnights rest to get oer it.
