Re: Notts CoMatch Thread ..

If we could equal our attacks with finishes we'd have won by many yesterday.
What worries me is the total lack of shape the team have going forward. Sometimes it looks like a school football game with everyone chasing after the same ball. Correct me if I'm wrong but did either of our wide players put in a cross during the entire game? John Miles is looking like he's finally putting the effort in, but it's useless when he gives us no end product. Countless times we saw the team breaking into the final third, but then the attack fizzled out. Wingers need to be on the wing and get crosses in. That's why we have Paul Mullin up front. When Jamie Clarke comes deep to get the ball and runs with it, he needs to lift his head up and see what's available because that is his downfall. There have been a lot of positives and a lot of turn arounds this season, lets hope the tactics can change for the better too.

Don't think so cashman.
The picture of the badge in the programme has the inscription: Accrington Stanley FC 40 years 1968-2008

Re: Notts CoMatch Thread ..

Overall - probably a fair result. County had their chances as did Stanley.
Some positives - John Miles going forward (although he still frustrates defensivly, he stands in no mans land so often, we cant afford to carry luxury players who dont track back), jimmy ryan effort, paul mullin effort, Griffiths grew as the game went on, Edwards the star again.
The 2 negatives for me where Cav who had a stinker and Jamie Clarke who still hasn't convinced me. After a few whacks of the Big County defenders he seemed to lose interest and a willingness to get involved. He donest gamble enough and take chances - and for a youngester he doenst work hard enough for the team.
I still feel we need some natural wide men, John Miles was the main creative midfielder, but throughout the game drifted inside. We need an out and out winger to supply Mullin/Onibuje

But he created nothing. No crosses, no through balls...
Milesy took on a good few players but there was no end product. He can't be described as a creative player.

Agreed. Very frustrating to watch.
TBH, after Worrall's cameo I think he could do a better job - he impressed me with his desire and quick, dynamic movement up front.

Fola's not known as a target man in the air despite his height. If you recall he played on the wing when Swindon came.

Their manager thinks they were the better side:

Thought Griffiths had a promising first game. Seemed to know exactly how much time he had on the ball. But Clarke's timing was really off. Not a 100 per cent convinced about Miles either. Overall a good game, though, save Cav's schoolboy mistake, and with a better second striker, this could be quite a good team.

Appreciated that you took the trouble, Stanleymad & Harwood Red.
Not sure the club realises that the link with the club's history is an asset. But people researching granddads career might be inclined to pop in at a game. Had a message today from a couple of guys of that ilk that went on Saturday. And I'll plow on regardless.

Hi Shaker.........I have read so much about Stanley on this forum.
I went on Saturday for the first time in many many years.
The last time I went to a Stanley match it was at Peel Park.
I was not impressed by the football on offer....or paying £2 for dry pie.
£6 in total for three.....I think a rep from your sponsors would have sold many more if they were presented better at a reasonable price instead of being sold at the resident greasy spoon outlet.
Get the football right and the pies might taste better.

The prices are set by the respective food vans not the club. But I agree, the prices are extortionate.
