The man's like a stuck record. Did he not say he was going to make radical changes to the defence before the start of next season? That's another of his favourites.

As Manager, he should know by now that the entire responsibility for any defeat, win or draw, is HIS and his alone!!.
Unlike yonmon, not me !, but yonmon who sits near me in the Main Stand, and who keeps saying that 't'Stanley have nowt to play for'. They have, in my opinion everything to play for. Not just their League status, and their pride (?)but also to retain the goodwill of all their fans, and to redress the negative vibes flying around the District via the Local Press !.
Head up John!!....Heads up Lads !!....ON STANLEY....ON !
'WHAT ME WORRY ?'.....Not really!

Re: Notts County match thread
I got back about an hour ago (starving so I had my curry first ) after watching a lackluster first half and better second half.
First half we lined up in a sort of 4-5-1 formation and it was obvious that it didn't work. It's no good pumping balls up to Mullin if there's nobody to get on the end of the flick-ons. Notts County were nothing special, but they went in ahead at the break.
Second half saw the introduction of Whalley and Harris and things looked better immediately. Whalley isn't the greatest, but having someone with pace up front (and could support Mullin) really turned things around. We looked as though we might grab a draw and as the time ticked down, Notts grew more and more nervous. We actually created a couple of good chances in the second half, but if you don't take them, you don't win games.
Overall I think we were a little unlucky not to grab a draw, but the team needs some serious work before next season. To be honest, you could get rid of 15 players from that squad and rebuild from there. However, whether you could sign replacements on our wages/facilities/crowds, etc, is another matter.

Re: Notts County match thread
and me.
First half we where poor. Had no real idea of tactics or what we wanted to achieve; only Mullin looked interested.
Second half - Whalley made a bit of improvment, but we didnt create one good clear chance. Bobby Grant did bits, but Brnach offered him no support and his link up play gave Bobby little room as Brnach simply didnt run past him.
Very poor - to many players simply turning up for there wages, real lack of desire from the manager whos tactics where more hope than ability.
Biggest culprits - Cav whos crossing was shocking and Craney who didnt seem interested and offered nothing.
Positives - Mullins attitude/work ethic/interest/desire and Bobby Grant in the 2nd half.
I think we would have a lot less points without Roscoe Dsane this season. Up front we are limited.
To be honest, with the exeption of Mullin who tried his best but was often stranded up front by himself, you could get rid of the whole team and none of the would be missed nor would they miss playing for Stanley.
New blood with something to prove wouldnt go a miss.
Still waiting for Mannix to impress me since his arrival.

Re: Notts County match thread
interesting point about Roscoe. i too think we have offered nothing going forward since Roscoe went. He was the perfect foil for Mullin.
ie a little baldy chap with a bit of pace, some intelligence and the ability to know where goal is. Anybody know where we can find one?

Re: Notts County match thread
We were saying yesterday that if we'd have kept Dsane (or had another proper striker) we'd have been safe by now.
As for Grant, well I know he's a young lad, but he hasn't shown me anything yet. He has a few nice touches, but as with so many of our players, he's lightweight.

If we hadn't had Roscoe in the first half of the Season I don't think our prospects would have been looking too rosy at the minute - nor will they for next season unless we add one or two strikers to the squad to cover for injuries and to play off Paul Mullin next season. Playing Ian Craney or Shaun Whalley as a striker is not the answer. We need add to the squad a couple of central defenders with good positional sense and pace as well.
The end of this season can wait a bit - we need to finish this season on a high note to help ticket sales and boost confidence - particularly at home for next season and to maintain Coley's record of year on year improvement. We cannot rely next season on doing as well away as we did in the Roscoe era - survival in this league makes decent home form imperative.

Re: Notts County match thread
Cometh the hour, cometh Leighton McGivern?? - thought not. What does the lad have to do to get a game??
Still at least he retains his perfect record of 2 starts 2 goals.
