Hi there, good evening to you all.
I hope you might be able to just take a minute to read this and the links - and possibly help.
As many of you might be aware I am Chairman of Leonard Cheshire Disability (
Leonard Cheshire Disability : UK disability charity : Homepage ). Our founder was Group Captain Leonard Cheshire, who was also one of the early squadron leaders of the Dambusters (617 squadron). 2013 is the 70th anniversary of the squadron, and they have chosen LCD as their charity of the year, and on the 7 days from Oct 5th to the 11th there is a major event that will see a team of runners go from Le Court in Hampshire - the site of the first Cheshire Home - to Lossiemouth in the north of Scotland - the current home of RAF 617.
i will personally be running just over 245kms (just over 150 miles) as part of that team, basically just about a marathon a day for the 7 days. On day 4 (Oct 8th) we will be running through Pennine Lancashire, and the purpose of this post is to ask for any support that people can provide to a wonderful cause.
The route goes through the centre of Blackburn (and through the Thwaites Brewery since Thwaites is one of our key supporters), and then following the M65 heading east, but clipping Hyndburn.
There are many ways that you can help or support, including, if it captures your fancy, being a part of the run for as little (or as long) as you wish !
