What was happening in 65? .
It's a common misconception that Stanley closed down altogether after they resigned from the league in '62. In fact, they continued in the Lancashire Combination in greatly reduced circumstances at Peel Park. By '65 they were all-amateur, the stadium was disintegrating, the crowds were pitifully low and they'd even lost the right to use the name Stanley (after the old club was declared bankrupt in '63). Eventually the club gave up the ghost in January '66.
I will still follow Stanley with pride and continue to follow Liverpool if it makes me less of a surporter then anyone else I will try not to lose to much sleep over it.[/QUOTE]
Don't blame you, Bazf. Even a purist like me accepts that one major source of increased support is fans of other clubs on their "days off" (even Dingles and Walkers!).
