Couldn't agree more!
The reputation of the Club was damaged enormously during the last few weeks of the SOS Appeal and it will take more than cheaper tickets to get people back to the Crown Ground. Ilyas has to be the one being the public face of the Club and be very pro-active in putting forward a positive message ... it can't be Rob Heys/David O'Neill, at least for now, because of the mistrust that they generated. Plus, the players have to be used more in the Community so again we can move away from the image that we unfortunately generated up to last week.
It will be a slow rebuilding process, but we now have a more united Club than I can remember for many a year!

Re: Our club has been saved....
David O'Neill and Rob Heys will have to prove their worth to the future of Accy Stanley because a lot of people aren't convinced they should still be there.

Agreed 100%.
I dont doubt RH and his commitment just the fact he told lie after lie when he was the so called Chief Executive.
As for DON, the quicker hes gone the better IMO.

Re: Our club has been saved....
First and foremost there has to be a compact between the fans, supporters and the club’s board; the past couple of months have been traumatic for all sides but continuing to point fingers at Rob Hay’s and David O’Neil will only serve to keep those divisions alive. Healing between the different sides and opinions must take precedence if the “Club” is to move on. Put the past behind us.
Mr. Khan, Mr. O’Neil and Rob need to be speaking from the same team sheet from now on, they have to be seen as one unit moving the club forward; working together. This is easier than most of us would think; after all they appear to be doing it already; so why can’t we.
Facilities are ****e; there’s no winter cover behind the stands so it will be less attractive for families; no matter how good the football, if your hungry and ****ed wet at half time your not going to enjoy it if your dragging a couple of moaning cold kids round to the burger van in the driving rain.
Before the game, in-between and after the final whistle it’s dead as a fart. Get some family entertainment organised; post match you could have the Pipe Band or the local Drumming groups, half time the Cheer leaders (or maybe not) or local talent singing or just plain Club information being delivered over the tannoy by one of the girls with a clear pleasant voice….Just make it entertaining/fun/interesting for families/community.
The Crown could become a centre point for local talent to make their mark, at the same time local charities or interest groups could have a marquee behind the stands providing a little distraction between play.
It’s all been said before: better bogs (Toilets that people would be comfortable walking into), food outlets (Christ; walk into Lancaster on any Saturday afternoon and you will find food from all over the world) Make it interesting, get some Asian food pitches going, and what about Polish or Chinese…it won’t cost the club anything but everyone will benefit.
One last time….a working group made up of supporters, the board, community (all cultures) business and council. Meeting, Talking, Acting.

Thanks Ilyas. I'll post it on here rather than emailing you, so that everyone can share in the information.
Apart from some of the points raised by other posters, I'm still concerned regarding some of the points raised on this thread:
http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...now-50304.html
I am very relieved and grateful for the club being saved, but I'm concerned that the relief will be short lived. I'm very much of the view that significant changes are required to turn the club around and when I read of the changes 'at the top', I was really encouraged and optimistic regarding a new start and fresh direction.
However, after reading that you didn't expect to be Chairman very long and that both you and Peter Marsden could be removed by the majority shareholder, I am left wondering what has really changed. I think the club (to use a collective term) has done some serious damage in terms of public relations and there has been a significant reduction of faith in their ability to turn things around.
I know that there are no guarantees, but who's to say that in a few months time, we won't be here again and worrying about the survival of the club?

Re: Our club has been saved....
I was trying to edit my message, but it won't allow me to.
I wanted to add that David O' Neil may claim to not like speaking to the media, but he fends off questions like a seasoned politician. I heard him speaking on the radio last week after the club had been saved and he failed to give a straight answer to any question posed.
When he was asked if he was going to do anything to repair the damage done to the relationship with the fanbase over the last 8 weeks, he replied by saying something along the lines of, 'well you can't please everyone all the time', as though it was the whinging fans' fault and he was an innocent party.

Re: Our club has been saved....
Tealeaf has just pointed this out to me in the LET. Shows just how close to disaster we really were.
Marsden happy with new Accrington Stanley backer (From Lancashire Telegraph)
Think we all owe a certain fan who made a certain phonecall a pint!
