Re: Our problem....
On the subject of improving our chances of avoiding another relegation scrap this season,I feel, having stated before in numerous posts, the Urgent need for the club to bring in two experienced defenders. If not to provide cover for what we have already got,but keep them on their toes.If we don't sort out what was our "achilles heel" last season this term, then the early signs indicate a long, hard season of struggle.
I also feel, like others, the gap that Todd has left needs plugging.Sooner rather than later.Todd scored 10+ last season not to mention the countless assists he provided. It's just my opinion, but maybe giving Boco or Whalley (or Brown for that matter)a free role operating behind a front two(and the jury is still out on what our best forward pairing may be) may be a way forward. Boco is certainly wasted as a winger.
I,like many others, am concerned by the recent developments.A roof that is taking an eternity to complete, season tickets delayed and after the last two league games,a glimpse of what may lie ahead (i.e another struggle to keep our place in the league which we fought so hard to get back into.)
We all need to be singing from the same hymn sheet. And by that I mean the club and the supporters. After all one is redundant without the other.I think it's time for both to stand up and be counted.
I feel the club needs to be more open with the fans and by that I mean keeping the supporters informed with developments,be it the roof, season tickets, new players, budget etc.
We as supporters, also have a massive part to play.Like the Chairman and the manager have appealed, bring a friend. And instead of slating individuals for their performances lets get behind them.
If both(the club and supporters) keep pulling in opposite directions we will get NOWHERE !! FAST !! And if you're all looking for a moral to this, what might seem as a rant....Remember what happened in '62.

Re: Our problem....
Your problem is the awful bumpy pitch !!
Or at least it was last year. All supporters should get to the game on saturday and support you. It has taken so long to get back, do the locals still not want league football ?

Re: Our problem....
George Santos big central defender currently on transfer list at Brighton. He is 6ft 4 and 14st he'll upset a few strikers and is built like a brick s*it house..!!!! He'll do a job and is an experienced championship defender.
Looking forward to meeting a few of you all this saturday as me and lad are up from Ipswich..

No, only when the sun shines, we are in the promotion places and in the 4th round of the FA cup v.Man U, and it is free entry!

Re: Our problem....
I for one will be giving Stanley all my support (after saturday) for this season.
Hopefully after a season or two, your support will grow to a level that will sustain league football.
I would hate to see a club like this to return to non league after all the sweat and tears that has been shed.
Never thought i would see the day that Stanley were a league club, and it will be to the eternal shame of those that are too apathetic to support you should you slip back to the blueconferencesquarething

If anybody invests they will probably want a say in the running of the Club, will Eric allow this ?
Eric said that he would retire and sell the Club if we got into the Football League, well this is our second season in the Football League and there are no signs of this happening. I am sure that if he put the Club up for sale there would be a few interested parties.

Re: Our problem....
The selling of League club would have to be easier and more attractive than selling a non-league club.
However, I have no idea how attractive the club is to investors, to be honest. As a business it makes little sense, as there are very few customers.

Re: Our problem....
Well it looks as though we could be on the way to solving one problem with the signing of Sean Webb. Welcome to Accrington, Sean.

Re: Our problem....
Eric in the Observer:-
“We made it free against Torquay last year and people came. It was an exciting game with a last- minute winner and seven days later, against Hereford, we only get 1,800. It is absolutely ridiculous. It means the people of Hyndburn will only come if it’s free and we can’t live like that."
What he is forgetting is that it was a bad weather day, if I remember correctly, and loads of the waverers were even leaving at half time, never mind missing the last-minute excitement. No wonder they didn't come back to actually pay to stand in the rain. I am as chuffed as anyone to finally get the roof but think it was a massive missed opportunity not to have it in place whilst the interest was still high and we were getting reasonable gates, even if it would have involved borrowing some cash. Now we have to build gates upwards from the bottom again. I personally know of 3 regulars who are just back from holiday and if only all our hardcore can say the same maybe we'll have a halfway decent turn out tomorrow?
