As an established League side it's not the same romance unless you pull a plum in the 3rd round or beyond.
Then you can factor in the economics, all pay which means even some of your season ticket holders will opt out.

Know that occured wi some folk, once of a day, doubt if that would be a factor?

Re: Oxford Match Thread.................
Toto and Murphy are just not good enough as a centre back pair at this level. Individually, may do ok alongside a more experienced head. No organising going on back there on Sat

Re: Oxford Match Thread.................
I like toto and he's got loads of ability, and after watching the goals I felt for him.The first goal was down to the rock hard pitch IMHO,in that corner it was hard enough to keep your feet and was just done by a player with low centre of gravity.
The second, miller lost the ball and he came out to challenge the centre mid and the guy just slid totos man in,
The third ,we cleared the ball ,but Joyce was beaten by the man(hard pitch again) and the ensuing play meant toto had to race out to the corner, whichin turn sucked lads into the middle, allowing them to load the far post.
Jeg red is right, were I am sure a experienced player may not of been dragged out as easily, but he will learn from it,

Fer me Toto gets too close to the man hes marking, therefore making it dead easy to turn him n get through, this has been bugging me fer awhile.

Re: Oxford Match Thread.................
Easy to blame the CBs but they were exposed by the formation. Dont like the style of play at the moment - weve not been a long ball team in a while. Hadwe have won it'd been a robbery on Oxford.

Re: Oxford Match Thread.................
All three were great goals from Stanley for me including Craig's for the first. Should do his confidence some good. Beattie's goal was a cracker and 100% intended and therefore it was no fluke. Moly's free kick was superb and aided by Gray jumping onto the end of Oxford's defensive wall just at the right time. As Moly sent the ball on its way Gray slid out of the way to "open the gate". Those of us in the Clayton End also helped by sucking it in!!
Yes, we do have a problem defensively, particularly at centre back, but as some have noted, Toto, being a big tall lad, may have had some trouble turning on the hard icy surface. My view is that we also have a problem in midfield where I feel that we lack combativity. Since Procter left we have not had a really combative tackler who really harasses the opposition. As a result we finish up defending too deep on our own penalty box and down the throats of our full backs. I would love to see a "Procky" type of player, (or just Procky), back at Stanley or better still a "Lee Rogerson bite your legs of, (at the thighs!)" type of player in our midfield. If we score three goals at home we should WIN ...."simples.com!"
New keeper did well and I hope we can have him for as long as we need him to cover Bavs period out with the injury. A pity about Bavs as he has been simply superb this season. Hope you get back soon Ian.
I think it could be a good idea to put Deano at centre back with Toto and play Craig Linfield at right back where he was a revelation last season. This could enable Peter Murphy to be used in midfield where he might be more combative than some of the other guys there. Peter is also always likely to pop up and score a goal from a more advanced position in midfield. I think that Moly is potentially our best player for the future. His left foot is super and he can create openings out of nothing with his defence splitting passes. And of course we know that he is clearly our best free kick specialist too.
Come on you Reds!

Re: Oxford Match Thread.................
I think the key to good defending cashy is getting touch tight,if you try and get too close you run the risk of being rolled.Nothing wrong with touch tight, and not letting your man turn, there forcing him away from goal.
Look what Beatty did too fleetwoods defender when he got too tight!, just dummied him and left him for dead.
Hope leam works on it on the training ground, the rest will come with experience.
Think deans banned on Saturday,so I would try murph at right back and give a start to the other young centre back.
Molyneux and Linney out wide and boco up top with Beatty,

Thats what i'm trying to say, Toto gets too close frequently, combined wi shocking distribution n suspect temperament, i reckon he should be omitted, needs to learn his job much better or ship out fer me.
