Peel Park
I am interested in the exact location of the original Peel Park Stadium which was the home for Accrington Stanley until 1962.
I beleve it is now a housing development but any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Peel Park
It is a school playing field now, the housing development is to the side of it.

Re: Peel Park
Might also be worth reading the article "Peel Park Revisited" on the official website by internationally-acclaimed author, Steve Pilkington.

Sorry, TM, should have given you an acknowledgement. Is it really that long ago?

Re: Peel Park
If you can run Google Earth (free, just ask Google, but you do need broadband) ...
Ask it to take you to Blackburn (sorry to mention the word, but Accy doesn't work). Track east until Great Harwood is centre screen, then zoom in until a dot marked Accrington appears. Now switch on "roads" and follow the orange road north-east from the dot (this is Burnley Road but isn't named). You will see Alice Street and Peel Park Avenue on the right, the site of the old ground is the green blob betwen them.
Hope this makes sense and helps
Edit - just repeated this and discovered the names don't always come up the same way - Burnley Road did come up this time and Alice Street didn't, the ground is to the south-west of Peel Park Ave.

Firstly make the picture bigger by one bar, then click west 3 times and the FES comes into view just under the dates at the top left of the picture

Re: Peel Park
Speaking of Google Earth, has anyone noticed that you can view most grounds but Holker Street is not defined in any detail?
They're efficient with their spending those Google blokes!
