Re: Peel Park
Because it was owned by Lancs County Council by then, who used it as a playing field for the adjacent school. Stanley did actually go back there to play one match in March, 1973 (2-2 draw against Nelson) when the Crown was unplayable.

Then L.L.C must have bought Peel Park off the then town council which is now Hyndburn which own the FES.

Nope, they bought it off a scrap metal dealer from Wigan. He'd bought it when the club finally went bankrupt in December, 1963. Think he was hoping to stage speedway at the venue or something similar. He hired the ground at a nominal rent to Stanley's successor - Accrington FC who played there until they finally folded in January, 1966.

Re: Peel Park
The old terraces at the peel park ave end are still there................. well under the grass & trees, answers the Q of why its banked upwards Also the steps leading up from the school, the little building they use as changing rooms are still there as the original entrances from the school carpark too
Love the place still even tho before my time but u can still feel it hauntingly

Re: Peel Park
at junior and schoolboy level it was drilled into us that it was a special place to play (peel park). And this was 30 years after the club leaving the football league.
