Re: Peel your Tangerine - tha Blackpool Match Thread
Didn't we have a luverly day the day we won at Blackpool!
It was a really well earned three points for the Stanley boys in an even and fiercely contested match at Bloomfield Road. Whilst it was not a brilliant performance from either side I think Stanley just deserved the win. Colby Bishop and Seamus Coneely injuries meant a couple of changes for Stanley. Offrande worked hard all day up front and his opposing defenders were once again quite physical in the way they manhandled him. However, he missed his best chance to score after a defensive lapse by Blackpool let him in 'one on one' with the keeper but he fluffed his finish.
I thought that Stanley came on stronger for the first twenty minutes of the second half which is when we really deserved to go ahead. The referee was letting a bit too much physical things go though and it resulted in the game deteriorating into a stop start affair. I was thinking in the closing minutes that a point away from home would be quite satisfactory when in the 91st minute Sean Mac fed Johnson on the right wing. The Blackpool defence gave Callum a second too much time, which allowed him to spin a lovely curling cross onto the head of Sean who had continued his forward run into the box. The glancing header into the bottom corner sent nearly 800 Stanley fans simply wild in our half of the stand. Absolutely 'Bonkers' it was, with everyone jumping up and down and shrieking and hugging in celebration of what looked like being the winning goal. I lost my voice in less than twenty seconds!
IMHO I thought that Bursik had a good game and made a couple of great saves. Barclay was very effective in the deep midfield role and was probably our MOM today.
The support from the stand with the Ultras in magnificent voice was also a factor in driving our players on to this great victory. The singing didn't stop once during the whole match and you could see the appreciation of the players at the end of the match for the wonderful support!
A great result and three very important points. Let's give as good support in the two home matches leading up to the New Year against Burton and Rochdale! Bring on some more friends and swell the Stanley 'Twelfth Man'.
ON STANLEY ON....
KEEP THE FAITH
I am still buzzing after that great finish to the match. Made even better after viewing your Twitter/phone footage Spartacus! Brings a new element to “Bouncing for joy!”:
