Re: Pitch

Looks like Hessentahler at Gillingham hasn't heard about the new pitch. This is what he said when talking about one of his trialists;

Quote:
Aborah is coming back from an 18-months on the sidelines with a groin injury.
"He can’t last the game at the moment but it was a difficult pitch for him (on Saturday) and it was a test to see what he was like on maybe an Accrington Stanley type pitch, no disrespect. Some pitches away from home would be like that and it was a test and I thought he did fine.

Maybe they play on a field that looks like it has just had this years potato crop grown in it and Aborah may find it hard to play on a pitch that looks like a snooker table!!!!

Re: Pitch

I too have been down today and it looks superb.

Just to let everyone know, Saturday's programme has a behind the scenes look at the work on the pitch - in words and pictures.

It's ASTONISHING to see the state it was in just a month or so ago and the amount of work that's gone into it...

Here's the Aldershot captains view

Aldershot begin their League Two promotion chase with a trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
"No disrespect but it's not a very nice ground to got to, but I'd rather go there on the first day of the season when hopefully the pitch is alright and we can play the way we want to," said Charles.

(quote) Outgoing chairman Ilyas Khan paid £70,000 to have the playing surface flattened and relaid during the summer after eight first-team games were postponed last season, mainly due to waterlogging problems in one penalty area.(Quote).

It is not merely 'the pitch' as referred to by the CEO, it is 'Ilyas's Pitch'...and I for one will always refer to it as such in the future !.
