Are you saying that if Reading get promoted Stanley get £30,000?
Sorry just read the other thread.

Re: Player Wages and Availability
With regard to Charnock, I'd have thought Posh would want to clear the decks having been promoted and would accept a knock down bid?? The £50K they quoted at the time of his loan move to Stanley may have dropped???
Does their promotion to the championship mean they would get the championship cut of Brum's parachute payment or league 1's cut ??
However that said, with a 25% wage cut, despite the proposed changes to the wage stucture (i.e. pay as you play incentives) it don't half make Coley's job even tougher.
Having been on the Bury message board, quite a few of their fans think that either Andy Morrell or Glyn Hurst "may be released" I'd certainly love to see Morrell at Stanley, but again it's the wages chestnut!! (apparently he turned down a league one outfit prior to signing for Bury last term, so they must have being paying him top dollar)
As for Conlon, I'm sure Grimsby would probably want his services. A good target man, always scores wherever he plays. But again wages.
Lee Hughes released by Oldham....probably would want astronomical wages and I'm not sure the bad boy image would go down too well.
Obviously it's an intersting time, when all clubs release player's no longer wanted. But as said before, with 25% cut off the wage bill, Coley's job in bringing new faces to Stanley will probably make the labours of Hercules look like a walk in the park !!!
Keepin' the faith in Coley !!!

Re: Player Wages and Availability
Lots of players being released as Clubs cut their budgets. Bradford City's budget has been slashed by 33%

From the Observer
Coleman has spoken provisonally to Kenny about a new contract but Arthur is being chased by a number of higher Football League Clubs, Phil Edwards is currently mulling over a two year deal, John Miles has also been offered a contract but Notts County and Grimsby are belived to be in the hunt for the wideman, Kieran charnock has had interest from other clubs, Cavanagh has also had talks about a new contract

None of that sounds that good, bearing in mind our playing budget. Just hope that a few others follow Jimmy and Chris....

Re: Player Wages and Availability
What would the starting players expect to be on salarywise at Stanley. Would it be an average of say £400 per week, and are there likely to be a few players heading towards the £1000 per week mark such as Mullin/Ryan/Charnock etc?

Re: Player Wages and Availability
If the £625k is just the playing staff budget (which I suspect it isn't) then for a squad of twenty that gives an average weekly wage of about £600.
I'd hazard a guess at an £800 p/w maximum for key players next season. Fringe/youth players will be on peanuts.
It's all just guesswork though.

Re: Player Wages and Availability
I can think of four players from the 1st division (Scotland) who are all excellent and would gladly sign for Accrington for £600 per week, possibly even less. They will soon all be out of contract and talentwise are all rated higher than Kenny Arthur was at the time he moved south to join the club.
There is no money in the game up here at all and its a great place to find real bargains if you know where to look. Look at Cardiff - sign striker Ross McCormack for 120k from Motherwell and now want £5mill a matter of months later for him.
Here's hoping we can perhaps get some steals from the non leagues - or even the Scottish leagues. (not really sure there's a difference there lol!!!).

Why not contact the club about setting up a scouting network north of the Border akin to Stanley's golden era under Walter Galbraith when Stanley became the first English League Club to field a team entirely of Scotsman garnered from the Scottish second and third tiers but with great attitude and performances that showed by Stanley being regularly Championship nearlies?
