Plymouth Away
Any brave souls making the long trip south for this one ????
Advance ticket details are on the fishy now.
ASFC News Story > 5651
Instead of £21 on the day, you can get an advance ticket at the fantastic price of only £19.
(plus the £1.00 booking fee and the £0.60 postage charge means a massive saving of £0.40)
Sorry, forgot to account for the cost calling the 0845 number, means you will actually save SOD all

Re: Plymouth Away
Not exactly a great deal to incentivise fans to get tickets early, never understood the point of booking fees. Surely if you want a ticket then you have to book a ticket to get one so what's the point in a booking fee?

Re: Plymouth Away
It's a variation of the "Brooklyn optician" school of retailing.
A man visits an optician in Brooklyn to buy some specs. The optician says "That'll be $50.....for each lens....and $50 dollars for the frame.....and $5 dollars to fit the lens.....per lens......plus $2 dollars cleaning fee.....for each lens .....and $10 for the spectacle case....and...."
"STOP, that's enough" says the man, "I can't afford any more".
"It's OK, I'll wrap your glasses now", says the optician.
Ryanair are world class exponents of this method of retailing that usually has customers paying £75 for £5 fare.
Booking fees are just another rip-off to make us think we pay less than we actually do.

Re: Plymouth Away
Back to things football, the ref for the game against Plymouth is Stephen Bratt. The gods must be mighty displeased with Stanley as he's been the ref in 6 of their games and Stanley have lost them all !
But then, we support in hope rather than expectation.

And the good news is!!
MOAS (the appointing system) has sent an e-mail to say Mr Bratt is no longer on the game.
No news of a replacement yet

Fanfest on again for the game on Saturday. Been to a couple of these and are well worth the£5 entry.
Pint, Pasty and decent entertainment all for a fiver.

Re: Plymouth Away
Unable to make the match, but will be keeping all remaining digits crossed.
Interesting statistic on the Football League site on "shooting, which may go some way to explaining Stanley's current predicament......
The Football League | Stats | Club Shooting
[If you click the "on" column it will order the clubs by number of shots].

Re: Plymouth Away
I'll be down there with a car load of pie-eating northerners so they'd better be good (the pies; not the northerners)!

All I can do to confirm this data Exile is to reiterate the quote from the late Sir Bobby Robson...
" Shots + Goals = Success. No Shots = No Goals = Failure...
Therefore the most important elements in any game of Football are to get your best players into a shooting position as often as possible... and then for them to 'Shoot to Kill !'.".
But I'm certain that JB must know this already !!.
