halifax is the nearest ground to me so looking forward to that one. free street parking near the ground is at a premium. station only 10 mins. flat walk to the ground so its a good option but for the drinkers there,s not many pubs near the ground so its uphill to the town centre. indoor market good if you want to eat. concorde cafe is highly recommended.

Please Sir;

Don't post lies!! You really don't know how much effort and time has been put into finding an alternative venue.

Do you really think ASFC want to let down a local Championship Club??

Both Club's were keen to play at Leyland and for very good reason's the LFA stadium was unavailable

Re: Pre-Season

There's a couple of "behind closed" doors games being talked about before the squad go away for a few days.

Top of my head stuff is

19th Skem (a)

23rd Stalybridge (a)

26th Barrow (a)

30th FC Halifax (a)

So 4 games for fans admission looks correct

PS I try to post correct information!!

Looked at from a distance, it seems unfortunate that there is no game against one of the other FL or PL teams in the north of England.

Perth Glory too but couldn't find suitable training facilities for them whilst they stay in Clayton!

Re: Pre-Season

Without a ground to play on you can't expect big clubs to play you as they will be preparing their pitches and preferring to play away. There are development squad teams that could be a decent spectacle, and Manchester City's have their own ground which could be worth a visit.

I didn't say "a big club" - I said FL or PL.

If you look at the fixture lists, lots of the Lancashire clubs have friendlies at home. And that's without looking at clubs in that other county to the east.

Yes they play at home to bigger supported or higher division clubs, so Stanley are limited to Morecambe away at best. That is why Stanley ended up playing non-league teams, it is unlikely any league team would host Stanley as it isn't a draw for home or away fans.
