Prediction League Game 46; Burton Albion (away)

Prediction League – Game 46; v Burton Albion (away)
Well – as my old mum used to say – “Who’d a thowt it?” Playoffs! Why is there never a Liverpool fan or a Milkman around when you want one?
This is the only game of the whole season for us which doesn’t actually mean anything (to either side); we finish 5th regardless; Burton – and didn’t they nearly make a right dog’s breakfast of it? – finish below us, but safe.
Since we eventually managed to play the first game back on March 15th (this will be our first ever Saturday meeting in the League) they’ve dipped a couple of toes in the transfer (loan) market; Tom Parkes, a 19 year old centre back from Leicester, and Nialle Rodney, Notts Forest’s 20 year old striker, who came as cover for Calvin “Couldn’t hit the floor with his hat” Zola.
Having had so many games in hand, their 12th March to 12th April results nearly saw them relegated; P10 W1 D3 L6; 6 points out of 30! Happily, their last 5 games have ended in two wins (2-0 at home to Cheltenham, and 2-1 at Aldershot) and three draws (1-1 at Bradford and Southend, and 3-3 at the Pirelli against Torquay – 9 points in 5 games. The point at Southend was the one that secured their League status; what a relief that must have been …………..
They’ve managed 3 goals on no less than 10 occasions, 2 six times, one on 22 occasions, and none 13 times; 64 goals (55 in the League) in 51 matches; their leading scorers are striker Shaun Harrad with 13 in 23 (pity that they sold him to Northampton on 20th January, really, and a bit worrying that he remains their top scorer ); long serving defender Aaron Webster (who made his Brewers’ debut back in 1998) has 12 (if you believe the Club stats) or 13 (if you believe his profile on their website); and loanee Sam Winnall, a “versatile frontman” from Wolves (for whom he’s played once, scoring no goals but getting a yellow card) has played 18 games (6 from the bench), netting 7 goals and a red card; incidentally, what’s an “un-versatile frontman” ? ……… 10 others have contributed, including the afore-mentioned Zola (4) and the departed James Collins (also 4)
For the record, they’ve played 45 League games, winning 12, drawing 14 and losing 19; scored 55, conceded 69, and have 50 points for 19th place (5 better than Barnet). They’ve conceded four goals in a game 5 times (Cardiff in the Carling, plus League defeats at Wycombe and Crewe (4-1 each time) and at home to Rotherham (4-2) and Barnet (4-1 again); three have gone in the “goals against” column 7 times; they’ve managed 12 clean sheets in 51 matches all told ……….
Last season each team won 2-0 away from home; this season we hold the upper hand, goals from Sunbeds (24), Ian Craney (47) and Captain Marvel (Proccie) (66) giving us a comfortable 3-1 win (the game, incidentally, which started our recent unbeaten run, which currently stands at 7 wins and 5 draws in 12 matches ).
So; for the last time this season, the fateful words; the deadline for entries is, Ladies and Gentlemen - as ever - scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm on Saturday 7th May. We’ve scored 53 in 23 home League games (second highest in the Division behind Chesterfield), but a very rubbish 19 in 22 away (Bradford (16) and Stockport – goodbye, Stockport - (17) being the only other teams not to have reached 20).
And there we have it; spanking win? Winning spank? (How is Miss Whiplash, Wynonie?) Goalless draw – surely not! 10-1? 8-2? Real-life 7-4 again? No point keeping your guesses to yourself – no points scored that way; get them down on paper as soon as you can …………….
Good Luck to everyone ………… and thanks for playing !

Don't need 'em, feeling perfectly rational today. Incidentally, I don't bother looking at the prediction table, as I know what's going to happen in advance. How many points am I in the lead by now?
