Norwich Stanley And Outback Ozzy Set The Early Pace
OK, back in business with a quick round up of what seems to be a fairly average start to the season. 5 points from 4 games - it took us 13 games to get that many 2 years ago, and 7 games last year. Meanwhile our prediction league leaders have 14 points from 4 games, averaging 3.5 points per game from 2 "wins" (spot-on prediction, 5 points), 1 "draw" (right result, wrong score, 3 points) and 1 "loss" (wrong result) apiece. If you're good at sums you'll see that only makes 13 points, but they've each also got one bonus point each - you get BPs by getting one side's score right when you draw or lose.
Confused
- taking the Mansfield win (1-0) as an example:
Predict 1-0, that's spot-on, so a win (MikeA) - 5 points.
Predict 2-0, that's a draw, with a BP for the Mansfield 0 prediction (Cashy) - 4 points.
Predict 4-1, that's still a draw, but no BPs (Wynonie) - 3 points.
Predict 1-2, that's a loss, with a BP for Stanley 1 (AngeB) - 1 point.
Predict 2-2, that's a loss, with no BPs (Red-Osbornello) - 0 points.
Our game, our rules!!
So what happened?
Game 1 – Stanley 1 Luton 1
5 maximums to start off the season, namely AngeB
, starting off the new competition as she finished the last, 3 other regular high-flyers, Norwich Stanley, Bdc and Football19, and also Maccawozzagod
, who will now probably top the average points per game table at the end of May, if this is his usual once in a season prediction. Stevie R, Exile on Spencer Street and Red-Osbornello spotted the draw for 3 points, but not the score, 25 of the other entrants picked up a bonus point for either our goal or theirs, and the remaining 12 didn’t.
Game 2 – I’m just not prepared to type this score
Just MikeA and Outback Ozzy taking the max this time
, with Accybeme, Monkey Hanger, Norwich Stanley and Red-Osbornello also going against history to predict a Shrimps win but just pick up 3 points. 20 people picked up bonus points for their goal, including Wynonie despite him being 7 off in his prediction for our score
, leaving 14 people pointless. Norwich Stanley leads the table at this stage with 8 points, 2 clear of 5 on 6. 1 new entrant this week, and 6 gone missing who played the previous week
.
Game 3 – Stanley 1 Mansfield 0
Stanley wins usually produce points for more people, and this one produced 4 maxis
, for MikeA (again), Accytom18, AndyD and DaveinGermany, 4 points for 12 of us (including both your organisers
) and 3 points for 20 more. A single bonus point for 5 others, and just 2 pointless. MikeA now top of the heap with 11, with Norwich, Bdc and Outback 2 adrift. 1 new entrant, and a couple of returners.
Game 4 – Notts County 1 Stanley 1
13 maximums (too many to list, sorry
) and 3 3-pointers for the drawmongers this time, as a touch of realism begins to feed into more peoples’ predictions. Single bonus point for 18, and nowt for 7. Norwich and Outback now 2 points clear of MikeA and AngeB, these 4 all having 2 maximums already. No new players this time, a few comings and goings amongst the occasionals, though it looks like we may have lost Maccawozzagod (surprise, surprise), Exile on Spencer St and StanleyNick (who I guess is doing more important things for the OASSC
), as we haven’t heard from them since game 1.
The first table is attached, in two parts because a single table exceeds the file size limit. And so it’s roll on Northampton – On Stanley On!!
