I agree with you AccyMad. Personally, I would be very surprised if we were promoted automatically this season or even made the play-offs, and to go up too early (i.e this season) might well not be a good thing in the long term. What Macca said was right - last season, in theory, we were only seven wins away from the playoffs, and I think that our final league position did not give an accurate reflection of the team's ability. Surely, we cannot go through another season with such a horrific injury list, and at the end of last season, it seemed to me that the team had really settled down (especially at home).
Friends from Walsall said to me that, having seen Stanley play twice, they couldn't understand why we were so far down the table (apart from the obvious answer of "our defence" !
), and they were sure that better times would be coming if we could straighten that out.
I have every confidence that Coley knows what he is doing and that with the new signings, as well as the experience of that first season playing in League Two, 2007/2008 will see some greatly improved performances from Stanley.
A top half finish will certainly satisfy me, with a push for the play-offs and promotion in the 2008/2009 season.
