Questions from World Soccer magazine about the new season

Last year, we posted some questions about Accrington for our start of season guide, which some of you very kindly answered

We’re working another guide, called Football 2014, featuring all 92 English League clubs.

Here are the questions again. Does anybody fancy answering them?

1. How would you describe last season?

2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?

3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?

4. And the biggest villain?

5. Is there a young player people should look out for?

6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?

Once again, we’ll publish the most informative and entertaining answers in the magazine, which comes out in a few weeks time.

Re: Questions from World Soccer magazine about the new season

How about a poll for who gets the most mentions in response to question 4!

Survival and the 2nd round of the FA cup and League cup.

3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?

Lee Molyneux - the best left foot in league 2.

6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?

At Aldershot away - 'your mum's a slag and your dad's a soldier'.

Re: Questions from World Soccer magazine about the new season

1. How would you describe last season?

Once again a resounding success as the 2nd smallest town in the Football League and by far the smallest club survived again against all odds.

2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?

As always, with our budget combined with the crippling apathy of the Accrington public, I would take third bottom on goal difference. However mid-table and a cup run would be a sensational season that hopefully we are capable of.

3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?

A tie between Armine Linganzi for battling on after the death of his brother to help us secure survival....and Lee Molyneux for his well timed wonder goals toward the end of the season that have allowed us to welcome Portsmouth and not Braintree next season.

4. And the biggest villain?

Paul Cook. Came....sold us a dream....then buggered off when the wheels started to come off.

5. Is there a young player people should look out for?

Aldred.

6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?

The very first "Ohhh Acccrrrinnnngggtooonnn...." of the season is always a special moment. You know football is back!!

Re: Questions from World Soccer magazine about the new season

1. How would you describe last season?

Torture. Going from looking like a good side at the start of the season to loosing a manager, side being reshuffled, loosing alot of games, wasted trips with pathetic performances and then to top it all off an extremely close relegation battle.

2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?

Mid table finish. While you have half of the league full of league 2 clubs with a bit of money and some good proffesionals you also have the other half with not so much money and still good proffesionals. With James Beattie as manager and his knowledge of the game and if he can get a few good players on board i dont see why any other club is different then us.

3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?

Molly, without his strikes we wouldnt of won the games we needed. This goes from draws, to last minute wins and then to smashing rochdale away.

4. And the biggest villain?

Cook - Left without any respect of the club. Used us as a quick stepping post. Never thanked the fans. Leam - Wasnt a manager, went for the gut shot and nearly shot himself in the foot with some poor tactics and managment of the players. Could of sent us down this season.

5. Is there a young player people should look out for?

Liddle - Think he can come on a bit this season if played in the right position. Looks good when coming forward. Aldred - Looks solid and has easily more to come. love his grit and determination. Carver - Not many people do well on loan to lower league clubs as they know they will be coming back. smashed them in at marine for fun.

6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?

'We are staying up'

Once again, we’ll publish the most informative and entertaining answers in the magazine, which comes out in a few weeks time.

Re: Questions from World Soccer magazine about the new season

Struggled with this question, Cashy. Could have put Paul Cook, Leam or Rob Heys (lack of transparency with fans and cash flow problem), but plumped for Coleman as didn't like the way he strutted around the place game after game after he'd been sacked at Rochdale - if he wanted to come and watch, should have paid and sat or stood like everyone else.
