Relegation " parachute payment "

I may be wrong but I think relegated teams at every level including league 1 receives a " parachute payment " to soften the blow is this correct and if so could it lessen the expected reduction in the playing budget?

Re: Relegation " parachute payment "

I thought this was part of the deal very recently agreed (March 2023) with the Premier League where parachute payments totalling £110m per year were to be drawn down by Championship and EFL clubs. Not sure what the breakdown is though.

I think Andy will tighten the budget regardless

Listening to his - and Coleys - interview, I think it will be low, hope/might be wrong???

I,m wondering when they said budget tightening they were referring more to a reduction in player numbers and a focus on obviously when contract,s are run down on certain remaining players who probably might not feature much next season that the future going forward is to try a more reduced squad in numbers but hopefully better ones brought in on a bit more money just a thought because last year we used far too many players, also our disaplinery record was awful this also needs addressing.

Re: Relegation " parachute payment "

I would think Andy that it will most likely be a reduction in player numbers, last season we seemed to have a large number of players many of them only playing for a few minutes and a few who we didn't see at all. I know that you need cover for injuries but might that be possible with a smaller squad and if necessary bring a player in on emergency loan.

Re: Relegation " parachute payment "

Recruitment last year was pretty ropey.
Im not sure why so many bodies were brought in with no confidence in playing them.
Hope there was nothing more than ill judgement to this.
