Re: Relocate to where?

Doesn't quite matter about the crowds at this time. What matters most, that if we want promotion to Chanmpionship/Premiership (dreaming I know) we have to move or redevelop FES and that is not feasible. Highest we can go at FES is League One and thats not ambitious enough for Eric etc

They have announced PLANS not announced a move.
If as Ozzy suggests that the Crown is good enough up to league 1 then I think it would be well worth waiting to see if we do actually make it there before upgrading. After years of worrying over putting a roof up in case it finished us off now we`re ready shift the whole kit and kaboodle on a whim. We`ll see.

Re: Relocate to where?

A cynic might suggest this is art of misdirection ... Eric won't spend any more money on the ground other than the long-promised roof, but in the meantime we get to dream of a shiny new stadium on the edge of town.

We are clearly a very long way from needing to build a new stadium to satisfy the requirements of being a Championship club and, given our revenue streams, we cannot even consider it unless it is funded almost entirely from public funds.

I, for one, would be perfectly happy with the current ground if the Club kept its promises on the Clayton End Roof, the underfoot conditions outside the ground and, to a lesser extent, the "bar" in the Clayton End. After years of having virtually unrestricted access around the ground and to the clubhouse during the game, being penned in the Clayton End takes a lot of getting used to!

Establish ourselfs as a league club before thinking about a new stadium.

"Keep football stadia out of town which is why I favour the old Power Station site. Rail and road access is pretty good, bus access aint too shoddy either Huncoats pubs are not that far away so whats the problem?"

Sorry Outback Ozzy, I disagree.
Turf Moor is only a stone's throw from Burnley town centre and I don't hear the Dingles complaining. The Reebok on the other hand is out of town but a real pain in the arse to get to if you don't have a car. I say keep it within walking distance from town. Parking shouldn't be a problem because more people could leave their cars at home and walk to the football via one of Accrington's fine drinking establishments.

Re: Relocate to where?

What about building the ground on the car parking areas at the bottom of black abby street, grange lane and oak street in the town centre. You'd be suprised how bit that area is and if the council was to flatten one or two of the old mills alongside it would free up plenty of room for parking ect. Also with the amount of roads leading out of that area, traffic problems would be minimal, and close to the train station. The amount of money going into local business' would also increase and i dare say a lot of empty town centre shops would be occupied.

Re: Relocate to where?

good idea - the big kop end could be build into the hillside as well to alleviate cost of shifting the hill.
