Relocate to where?

if you were in charge of planning where would you put the new ground?

Personally I'd look into whether we can shift the Accy Amateurs from their site next the FES. Would solve a heck of a lot of problems regarding car parking although arterial road access would still present a problem on big match days. There is room though if they were willing to sell and a lot of existing materials could be shifted 200 yard to keep costs down. Show of hands and we could do it in a weekend.......................

Re: Relocate to where?

Wasn't there talk once of going to Huncoat? . Given the reason for a new ground is promotion and you would expect bigger crowds then I would guess the next door ground is not suitable either given the access roads.

Re: Relocate to where?

In an ideal world i would move the ground just next to the M65 junction. There is enough land there to build a new stadium & a big car park.

Re: Relocate to where?

I’m a lover of Heritage and Tradition, so a trip back up the road to Peel Park would do me nicely. I’ve really been away too long to know where an ideal place wood be.

Re: Relocate to where?

The old huncoat power station site was originally talked about years ago.

Accrington amateurs is currently on a 25 years lease from the council and I may be wrong but I think they have refused us permission for that ground before when we were on about putting an all weather pitch in.

If you were going to build a new ground now you would have to go out of town.
The area near junction 7 of the M65 would be great if the canal didn't run straight through it!!
Huncoat near the bypass at the top of burnley road would be the ideal place, as it would be easy to put in the relevant access roads, straight onto the bypass, also it is reachable by public transport. Oh and there's a pub on the corner and a petrol station!!

Re: Relocate to where?

Sod it, lets have it in the town centre, close all the pound shops and there will be plenty of space

I thought there were houses on the site of some of the old stands.

Subject to that it is and always will be Stanley's spiritual home.

The cricket ground was mentioned a few years ago, that would do me as I won't have far to walk.

we could always do a Wimbledon (topicl innit), I hear there is a lovely patch of ground up near Dumferline that would suit us perfectly!

Forget it - absolutely nil parking anywhere around. No-one had cars when we used to play there!
