"How did it happen?" the doctor asked the middle-aged builder as he set the man's broken leg.
"Well, doc, 25 years ago ..."
"Never mind the past. Tell me how you broke your leg this morning."
"Like I was saying...25 years ago, when I first started working on the building, that night, right after I'd gone to bed, the boss's beautiful daughter came into my room. She asked me if there was anything I wanted. I said, "No, everything is fine."
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"I'm sure," I said.
"Isn't there anything I can do for you?" she wanted to know.
"I reckon not," I replied.
"Excuse me," said the doctor, "What does this story have to do with your leg?"
"Well, this morning," the builder explained, "when it dawned on me what she meant, I fell off the Clayton End roof!"

No. You are the senseless silly one. An option is an alternative course of action, to be considered and then either executed or dismissed. It is irrelevant whether the club has considered this (seating ) or not, or if it is indeed no more than an unfounded rumour - an option is a fact. I do not wish to get involved in a discussion on semantics, pragmatics or syntax but I would suggest that you try to be a little more careful in your use of language.

Oh dear.... in your book of English grammar and meaning, does the word contradiction exist? Pompous arse.

In other words, I am right and you are wrong. Go on, admit it.

No it isn't, it's an option, a possibility. It may be a viable option, it may be a fact that the option exists, but in itself an option is not a fact. If that option is taken it could become a fact, but by then it has ceased to be an option.

As another pedant, I must agree - an option is not a fact.
It was a fact that there wasn't a roof.
It was an option to build a roof.
The option is being taken.
It is now a fact (unless Kipax is taking his pictures somewhere else ) that a roof is being built.
It will be an option to put seats under that roof.
It is not necessarily a fact that anyone is considering that option.
I think I'll go to sleep now.

Wrong. If the fact is that an option exists, then that in itself is a fact. It is irrelevant that an option - that as an idea that may have been tested and found not to be viable - it remains a fact that the option was tried.

Pedant, yes, it's a sort of disease.
Tealeaf, I'm not bothered that you're wrong, really not.
