Re: Rotherham home thread
Thought it was a tense affair especially first half but after the break we finally decided to play football has it should be on the floor when we do that we look a good side made Rotherham look largely ordinary second half every one played their part especially Clark coming in from the cold looked good keep playing on the floor lads and you.ll win more than you lose excellent gate as well biggest of season.

Re: Rotherham home thread
What a team. Proud of every one of them today and what a great result against a strong Rotherham side. As noted by other posters, thought Mitch Clarke had a sound game and Tommy looking better every game. Keep this up in 2022 an i will be well pleased.

Re: Rotherham home thread
WOW! What an excellent result for the Stanley today, beating the current League leaders, Rotherham.
The three points were fully deserved too.
In the first half Rotherham started confidently and looked like they expected to get a victory. Stanley coped well under pressure and with a couple of blocks our boys gained in confidence and pressed Rotherham back.
The referee was following the pre season instructions of ‘letting the game flow’ but in actual fact the pushing and pulling was disrupting the flow of the match. This actually seemed to be in Stanley’s favour as we gradually got on top of our opponents. Number 24, big fella Smith was a right cheat, pushing constantly but the ref gave nothing against him. Smith totally drifted out of the game in the second half.
Our team formation was a rousing success today. The back four was well balanced. The inclusion of Mitch Clark at right back worked particularly well. He had a great game himself but his presence allowed Ross Sykes to play in his best position as the aggressive centre back. Ross was IMMENSE today! He won so many headers, played some good passes out of defence and made a couple of superb blocks to prevent goals. He was largely responsible for the cheat, Smith drifting out of the game. The second half was less end to end and Stanley dictated play much more. Rotherham were always capable of scoring on the break though.
The winning goal was WONDERFUL! Pressure from our forwards saw the ball get headed out to Sean on the corner of the six yard box and he acrobatically played the overhead kick, without trying to hit it too hard, over the keeper and into the net. We went ‘BONKERS’ in the Clayton End for it was simply the best moment of our season so far!
Stanley held out for the fully deserved victory with our managers making some good substitutions in the closing minutes!
The scenes after the final whistle will live in my memory for ever!
WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE THE TWENTY YEAR REIGN OF JIMMY AND JOHN WITH EVERYONE SINGING ‘SWEET CAROLINE’!
ON STANLEY ON.
WITH JIMMY AND JOHN
… AND JOHN DOOLAN TOO.

Re: Rotherham home thread
Cracking match and atmosphere, well summed up by Choirboy.
To be honest, was a bit surprised by the way Rotherham played - first half in particular they just repeatedly lobbed high balls for their forwards to chase. But Stanley’s defence were excellent, especially Clarke who was solid after not seeing much game time. Leigh is getting better each time he plays, a real prospect, and he and young Coyle were very effective in midfield. Thought Malcolm is also proving a useful player, if only he and Bishop could play just a bit closer together.
Looking forward to watching all those goal mouth scrambles on iFollow tomorrow.
Wonderful ‘anniversary’ present for, and a credit to, Messrs Coleman and Bell and all the coaching staff.

Re: Rotherham home thread
Enjoyed the game and the win was throughly deserved. The two centre backs and goal keeper were excellent.
Rotherham are a team who get it Upto Smith and play around him,we simply out muscled him.
Sykes in particular was very aggressive.
Did think some lads played out their skins today, hope the scouts were not in attendance!!!
Onwards and upwards!!!

Good to be with you again Ian !.. out-talked me as usual but as it was Christmas ?..
Agree totally with your comment.. not many mentions around of Michael Nottingham's quiet c ontrolling of most things at the back, much to be admired about in his style and methods ( and aggression at times ? ).
Stay safe and well !.
AND A SUCCESSFUL AND PRODUCTIVE 2022 TO ACCRINGTON STANLEY.. ALL THOSE WHO INHABIT OUR FORUM !.. AND TO FOOTBALL !!.. OH YES ... AND GET WELL SOON DI !..
