Re: Rotherham thread
Aree with smudgie on this one
Was very impressed with Rotherham, good energy, loads of pace in the team, and had a real good shape about them from front to back.
Gabbin and Marshall(deans ex team mate)give mcintyre a torrid time, but to be fair he didnt get much help, but never give up.
The weather played a big part, with the ball moving all over the show,so credit must go to both teams, trying to play the right way.
They will go up automatically, and are the best team i have seen this season by far.
Considering Acci are re-building a team, with young lads coming in,being asked to play in un-familar positions, and not a lot of experience, they will become better players.
Positives-- Long and Hessey were superb again
Negatives--Proccy is not an attacking midfielder, needs moving back to his best position,as we sometimes got over-run in the centre.
I think a draw was a fair result and to battle back playing against a good team, into a strong wind, showed a bit of character, and they could have easily nicked it at the end

Re: Rotherham thread
yeh n we could have nicked it at the death when craney was free in the box, so oer all no complaints, thought Proccy was at fault fer Rotherhams goal, he moved off the line, which yeh should never do n ball went in were he should have been.

Re: Rotherham thread
I thought that when it happened!!!,always have someone on the posts at corners,it makes the goals smaller for the keeper.
But why is our tallest player on the post?,doesnt make sense,he should be marking one of there dangermen.

He wasn't, but he should have been, that is why Rotherham scored. If he had stayed where he was the ball would have hit him.

Re: Rotherham thread
I will re-word that Jeff !!,You should put your least effective headers of the ball on the posts, and stay there till the ball is cleared

I heard it in the build up after 7 but if you get the chance to hear it in an iplayer "listen again" of their main footie programme between 6 and 7 its well worth a listen.

Re: Rotherham thread
Entertaining game! Thought the defence had a great game against a very good attacking team! Got lucky on some occasions but we must be owed some by now. Thought aswel that the ref had a good game, one or two not good decisions but was good and let the game flow. Once again proccy with the accy determination.
One thing i didnt like was Joyce playing just infront of the defence. Was always more aless at centre back getting the ball and then passing it to the wings. He should be more attacking i would of thought!
Hopefully can keep fletcher for the rest of the season as hes got the class we need.

Re: Rotherham thread
Cant see Long playing div 2 football after january,to progress his learning curve he should at least be playing div 1,which is well within his locker.
Cant believe he was like a donkey until john and jimmy got hold of him -----only joking, great potential

Re: Rotherham thread
Thought last night was a great game in difficult conditions and a good advert for League Two football with both sides playing good high quality tempo football.
Stanley struggled at the back down the left hand side with Hessey having do a lot of covering this is one area which still concerns me and the Millers had obviously done their homework looking at chinks in Stanley's armour.
We looked good at times going forward with neat interplay and some peach passing from the wings into the area which resulted in panic and last gasp defending from the Millers, Wes puts in a tremendous amount of work as did the majority of the back line and midfield but I still feel we perhaps would get more goals with a front two pairing?
That's only my opinion and to be fair the more exciting football is usually through the rotating midfield three.

The bit after 7pm where I heard it is not on iplayer. Sometimes they repeat interviews in that slot from the 6pm - 7pm part of the show. I have skipped through that and not managed to hear it on iplayer.
Key points were the interviewer saying that Stanley were a very good footballing side that improved year on year on relatively limited resources.
Andy Scott agreed. Said John (Coleman) was doing a marvellous job. He had very good players and rebuilt the team each year. He had a knack of finding young players "with a point to prove" and added the right mix of experience to ensure it all worked well in matches at this level.
Accrington was a hard place to go to with a tight ground but the support and atmosphere amongst the fans was superb. The fans were happier and more relaxed than most because there was not the same weight of expectation. The club had come out of non league and the fans were just happy to have a club that was not merely in the football league but was more than holding its own.
He pointed to Coley's longevity at the club and his year on year improvements but said the club had done so incredibly well last season that it would be difficult to maintain that record this season.
The interview went on in the same vein for about 5 minutes with both Andy Scott and the interviewer clearly very impressed by Stanley and what had been achieved.
Clearly Andy Scott bears no ill feeling from Brentford's rained off game a few seasons ago when he ended up having to placate his own fans making a speech to them as they stood on the terrace
Stanley's well earned point was a partial fix for my other team's dreadful result at Stevenage.
