Some people are describing Stanley's rise as a fairy story but in truth it is a story of dedication, hard work and teamwork against all the odds. Long may our story continue, especially now as we finally seem to be entering a period of financial transparency and off the field stability. Come on you REDS!!

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
Life in the Spanish leagues would suit someone like jimmy and his type of play ! Acres and acres of space to move into and pass the ball about short and wide which is one of jimmys main strengths !! Also lots of time and time for shots at goal !
Also over there it isn't as physical so his size wouldn't matter !! He played a good game at torry that time and only got subbed due to risking him getting injured!
You don't see many Midfield league two players scoring a hat trick !!

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
great post choirboy agree 100%, jimmy has had a great season, reality is though, doubtful if stanley would get oer 350K fer him, as you say unproven at a higher level, now if we went up n he produces at Div 1 level, his value would rise big time, which i reckon would be better fer both Jimmy n Stanley.IMHO.

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
choices, choices time for the club.
We haven't the option of 'cashing' in as his transfer fee under the Bosman ruling wouldn't be as great as under contract. Do we accept that he is likely to move on and get what we can for him (bearing in mind that we wouldn;'t stand in the way of a player moving on), or do we offer him the contract that he undoubtedly deserves in the hope that his form carries on next season and we can hope for a bumper pay day?
As a League 1 club we could realistically hope to double what we could get for him, and any pay rise (based on his L2 salary) would be offset slightly by having gone up anyway. But if we dont go up then we may be saddled with a contract that is way above what we can pay, and clubs might be put off buying him knowing they'd have to part with a fee.
We have to offer him an improved contract in order to get anything at all out of a Bosman tribunal, and I believe that the nature of the offer has a bearing on what a tribunal will rule at (ie offer him a pittance and his fee would be next to nowt, triple his wages and make him the highest earner bar none and his fee soars)

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
I would imagine contracts will not need to be discussed till we know what League we will be playing in next season.
Go up League money will improve gates I would imagine will average around the 2500 mark with away followings over the course of the season plus all the other add ons in more sponsorship large numbers of walk ons (away fans) at the new £16 price.
All of which should help balance the books better and may strenghen the Clubs hand in maybe not having to lose players?

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
"Accrington Stanley have insisted they know Jimmy Ryan knew nothing about sur[rise reports linking him to Real Zaragoza - and the club would push for as much as £750,000 if they cannot persuade their star midfielder to stay this summer ....... we'll be offering Jimmy the best contract we possibly can"

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
I am suprised it is Spain who are after our Jimmy, only a few games ago a scout from Blackpool was sat along side of me watching the game, he had also been to Crewe to watch us , he said he was impressed with what he saw , patted me on back , wished us well for the rest of the season and left just before we score two more goals.

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
Agents are the pimps of football (don't ask what that makes the players!) and the me-djah are desparate for any gossip to fill their 24-hour agenda. Someone could tip off a hack that the All Blacks were interested in signing Jimmy Ryan, and it would appear somewhere.
Jimmy Ryan has been oustanding for Stanley and he deserves all he can achieve from his efforts, but the club faces this issue at the end of every season. I was down when Grant, Symes and Arthur left and feared the worst. But the club has achieved more than anyone (other than Messrs Coleman and Bell) could have dreamed of. All the squad has been oustanding. If Jimmy Ryan moves on, let's hope we still have Joyce, Craney, and Barnett. More importantly, let's pray we still have John Coleman and Jimmy Bell.

Re: Ryan Set For Dream Move
Out of interest have just watched Levante v Real Zaragosa, its made me very happy, that the story by the BBC was utter rubbish, Jimmy would struggle to get in R.Zs second eleven IMHO.
