'It never rains but.....'... for Crewe Manager ??
Steve Davis says the club's 'unexpected red cards' at Barnet will now keep someone in his squad another chance to stake their claim for a regular place in his first team. The Crewe Alexandra manager tried late into yesterday to bring in a replacement at centre-half but missed out on the Southampton defender Jack Saville at literally the 11th hour.
Davis had to act quickly following the subsequence bans for his captain David Artell and Adam Dugdale but after missing out on target Jack Saville for this Saturday's meeting with Accrington, the door could now re-open for Kelvin Mellor, Carl Martin or youngster' Ollie Turton.
Steve told crewealex.net: "We had a couple of unexpected red cards at Barnet and that has given us something to think about. It will give someone else a chance now.
"Thankfully, we have Carl (Martin) back from injury and he can play at full-back or at centre-back. We know it is a vital position at centre-back, so that is why it was so disappointing to lose both of ours on Saturday."
'.......but what it pours ???'...good or bad news ??
