school report
thought i wud gage peoples opinions of the season as people seem to be getting carried away on some other threads. here is my vew of the season and of our squad in general.
Season - Massive over achievement, some of our best days out in seasons. safe by march couple of decent cup runs. probably got too much too soon as a result we are suffering as fans now.
Management -- worked wonders on limited budget and embargo etc, not helped with off field dramas and losing cav before start of season. must try to use more subs next season.
goalkeepers- Bav had great start to season but then sadly tailed off and we havnt had a decent cat since xmas. a new number 1 a priority next season.
Lees --- young lad showed good early promise but like bav tailed off and has been getting progressively worse. i would have him back on loan next season and sign cav and let them 2 compete for position.
Winnard -- steady, 100% not good enough on ball to be a full back, but not strong enough to be a centre back imho. for me he wud be 3rd choice c/b next year and cover for other positions.
Edwards --- mr consistent has made a few errors last few months, probably cos of the wait of carrying the back4 all season. get him a solid left footed partner for next season.
kempson -- good against a team who hoof it and big c/f s would keep him but select which games he plays
turner --- flatters to decieve, probably hasnt had enough chances. sell him if we get a decent offer for his benefit and ours.
Grant --- scored alot of goals and may move. covers 2 positions and he is young so hope he stays, needs to work on hold up play if he wants to be a top c/f
Ryan -- 2nd season syndrome, not been as good as last year partly as he has been out of position. looking forward to seeing him in c/m next year with a new enforcer
Joyce -- good competitor, but too many side ways passes and safety balls for my liking. not creative enough, decent squad player
proctor -- indifferent season, not a captain imho. keep for squad but not a starter
miles -- our most creative player when we play on the floor, useless when we lump it, if we go down that route let him go, if we are gonna try and play attractive football he has to stay
Symes--- revelation good hold up play and alot of goals, sadly i think he will go and no one can blame him
kee -- would of liked to see him play more games and would have him back next year as he is different to any othe striker on our books
king -- pace but not much else from what i have seen, release
mconvile-- clever but not strong enough yet, loan out
mullin -- richardson -- 2 of our better players that have been injured too much, would like them to stay if a pay as you play can be agreed
murphy -- not up 2 it release
overall -- 7/10 main difference this season to previous seasons has been that we have had strikers who have scored regularly in grant and symes. we have had same suspect defence. with a bit more cash of ilyas and sales, and a few shrewd signings we have the makings of a play off chasing team next year.
roll on season 2010 / 2011

Re: school report
A fair enough summary. If you're not one already, you should get a job as a teacher.

Mate, times have changed. Most kids aren't taught how to spell or punctuate because too many teachers don't know themselves how to teach either.
As long as you can right something vaguely write, it's all-rite.
Teachers, like chemists, "dispense with accuracy".
Anyway, things do revert to recognisable English after a couple of 'wuds', so all is not lost. Plus, his summary on this year's performance remains, imho, well-made.

"He's" a "she". Seems a rather unfortunate user name for a lady, doesn't it?

Re: school report
A good post by rudedog,but when giving opinions on players, you should consider the following;
The game has three basic areas , when your team has the ball, when the opposition has the ball and when both teams are contesting for the ball.
Different players exceed in the different areas of the game ie when acci has the ball ( on the deck) miles is one of the best players, when the opposition has the ball hes the worst !! and he woulld prob admit it !!
Some players are good in all three areas ie jimmy ryan (when hes fit ),which is another area which fans dont take into consideration

Re: school report
Fair points there Deano's dad/uncle/brother and they are probably points that most fans don't take into consideration (knowingly). We tend to just look at the game and take in as balanced a view as our rose tinteds allow. It is possible to form a relatively accurate assessment of a player in that way and at the end of the day they are just opinions - until a large majority of people agree with the given opinion, then it would appear to be more fact than opinion!

Re: school report
I would disagree about Chris Turner, why would we want to sell one of our better players? He hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip and you can't expect him to play well when he is only getting 45 minutes here and there. He proved on Monday that he can create assists when given a chance. It speaks volumes to me when he was given a two year contract when most other players didn't, this shows that the club realise he is potentially a very good player.
I would get rid of McConville as he is not up to the standard required and I would drop Procter and keep Jimmy in the centre, he will score a lot more goals and give the midfield the boost that it needs.

agree fella ...chris turner has so much potential and has unfortunately only been given cameo roles maybe next season we can see chris properly ala what has happened with Bobby this season want Procky there, very important presence, Jimmy is essential to th football club, mcconville is at best conference north
