Add to that the handicap of being so remote, their current success is even more remarkable.
In many ways Barrow & Stanley's circumstances are very similar, except....
Could it be that they have a young manager who knows how to get the best out of his players & actually has an effective game plan.

Lord S......the answers obvious....they must be cheating!

Talking of the above, I see that the team Stanley couldn't defeat over 3 games were demolished at home today 0-5 by Ged Brannan's Morecambe.
Since he took over the reigns 3 weeks ago they're undefeated.
Seem to recall suggesting we could do worse than appoint him when relegation was looking obvious toward the end of last season.
We may well live to regret letting him go.

Not quite correct, yes they hammered Donny today but they lost Ged's first two games in charge but have done well since with 2 wins & a draw

Re: Season 18
Just to clarify some facts on Barrow.
They do pay more money than ASFC and are likely to pay more per player as they only have a small first team squad and no Academy.
They train in Manchester and only travel to Barrow on home match days
Whilst they may not have a billionaire backer there owner is based in the USA (I believe).
Crowd wise they have a larger area to get there fans from as they have nobody to compete with!!

Re: Season 18
Have to admit that - with the fixtures we have had (home particularly) in February - I am disappointed that we are not over the 50 points mark......
The season is in danger of just fizzling out.........

Re: Season 18
Will be even more difficult next season with the reduced budget allocation for players. Having said that, most of the player budget goes onto the players who don't play due to injuries or suspensions.

Re: Season 18
Yes you're right Val, 5 points from the last 21 (I think) is relegation form. Form has deserted us in 2024. We need players back urgently......and going forward we need to ensure that we have a durable squad next season which means "weeding-out" players who are injury- prone ...

You’re not wrong, CG, but, however bad it is, there’s usually someone having it worse.
