Re: season ticket prices .......

although I wish the club would show a bit more respect for the fans sometimes with respect to communications etc, I don't expect loyalty to be rewarded in this manner.

We need to be more attractive for the general fan and we can't afford to give extra incentive to existing season ticket holders. But I do think that Burnley got it right when they said that any season ticket holders can have one free (or same price - Lancsdave) if they get to the Premiership.

We need to at least double the gate receipts and by halving the price we would need 4 times as many on to do that. With the new stand going up next season, it is absolutely vital that we get it right in every aspect in 08-09 in order ot hit the ground running the following season. A few key moves would set us up nicely for 09/10 IMHO

Re: season ticket prices .......

and if the club put walk on prices up even £1 expect less fans next season. brfc average 20% of population per home game bfc average 10% and stanley average 1.5%. 10% should not be a unrealistic target for stanley in the next few seasons.

Not quite sure where you get the figures from that you quote unless you are using the population of Hyndburn. Accrington's population is somewhere around 37,000 mark which IMHO means Stanley are getting about 4 to 5% not the 1.5% you quote, However, if you are talking Hyndburn, then this goes up to somewhere near 80,000 then the figure of 1.5% maybe true. As has been stated on other threads (and I am not searching for one now) Stanley have always had the problem of their bigger neighbours (this was as much the case pre '62 as it is now). Lets face it, from '62 until '06 we had either no team or a non-league team. I must admit though, where are the extra 1500 who used to watch us in the days of the Conference? Not that I am advocating returning to non-league obscurity. I want the team to push on and do something the pre 62 team never did, get promotion to League one and higher (if at all possible). We can emulate Wigan Athletic and the old Wimbledon. They never got fantastic crowds (and in the case of Wigan, I have personal experience at the old and new stadiums). I don't want miracles, but to be competetive would be nice!

Pedantic, but the old Stanley played in the 3rd division until relegation to the 4th in 1960 and so they did play in the equivalent of League 1.

Being Northerners I'm sure the 3rd Division North was always above 3rd Division South

Well apart from two seasons, 1958-9, 1959-60.

1958-59 in English football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barrow were a league below us, and next to bottom. Something we've improved on over the years.

Are you trying to say the club would mislead us?

One way of selling programmes.
