Second minute goal handicap - Doncaster at home thread

Sadly never going to be one of 16 cup finals.

Re: Second minute goal handicap - Doncaster at home thread

Must admit when Donny scored so early on i feared a landslide victory for them but I was wrong - first half the game wasn't pretty but we hung on.
Then came the equaliser from Seamus only for it to be extinguished a couple of minutes later by a soft, unfortunate o.g.
We rallied more as the second half progressesd without actually looking like a threat, at least until the last 5/10 minutes when it was the Doncaster fans who were getting anxious for the full-time whistle to blow.
Overall, yes we can he better & hopefully will be in the next two games at Tranmere & Harrogate - fingers crossed

Re: Second minute goal handicap - Doncaster at home thread

I feared it would be a 1-5 given the way they finished last season and their placing this. Also having been their bogie side for a few years the roles have somewhat reversed. All the more frustrating to have got so close to getting something out of it only to be denied by a soft goal borne of bad luck for a young player who seems a promising signing. Sounds like Charlie Brown stretched them a bit too.

They were better than us overall, that cannot be denied.

We were better second half, but they should have out of sight by then.....

We CANNOT lose any of the next two, that is for sure.

One thing I keep coming back to is, Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Celtic, Barcelona, Bayern - this list goes on, play 4 at the back.....

I wish that we would ditch our 3/5 at the back and go back to a 4....

I am not the manager and I am not in charge, but I do not think we play it well and I will say the same when we get promoted doing so

ON STANLEY ON

P.S. I know that Celtic and Arsenal lost yesterday also

Re: Second minute goal handicap - Doncaster at home thread

Don’t think it is so much 4 or 5 at the back but the overall balance. But Five at the back and TWO holding midfielders does not give much room for creativity. As we have seen.

We don’t have a great team, but Doolan’s tactics have made it unnecessarily poor.

Judging by our recent performances against the other two teams currently propping up the table, don't hold your breath!
Our defeats by both Carlisle & Morecambe, who appear incapable of winning against virtually anyone else, may yet prove to be fatal.
