i cant help with this cause i dont know much about Stanley, and im not sure if i could call myself a fan, since i never watch a match.. but as a good brazilian, ive always loved football, watching on the tele or going to the stadium (Maracanã, the biggest one). when i got older, i started to pay more attention in the european leagues as well, specially the british football (for no particular reason, maybe cause its where football was born, and theres so many histories to be read, so many histories lost in football memories - for example, according to wikipedia, the welsh league champions of the beggining of the century XX unknown - i think i love that).

i follow Liverpool FC, as they catched my attention when i started watching the EPL, years ago.. the atmosphere at Anfield seems to be great. well, later i became a member in a brazilian forum about the non-glamurous side of football, where people talk about the lower leagues in brazil, curious facts of asian football, smaller leagues of England, Italy, or any (i said ANY) other country...

cause of this, Nottingham Forest has always been a club people talked a lot about there, as they have been champions of europe twice and today are a League One club. what i find interesting is that in the same time they can look to all the other teams in their league and say "hey, we have 2 european cups", they have nothing else to be proud of, they should also be ashamed of being where they are, despite their tradition... so when i found a torrent to download a Nottingham Forest's game, i didnt have to think twice, i knew it would be very interesting... (for example, i also like Oxford United, League Cup champions in the 80's, today a Conference team)

for my surprise, Forest didnt win the game. it was a Carling Cup match agaisnt Accrington Stanley. i remember the commentator saying "the club that refuses to die", also talking a lot about how the club has finally come back to League Football etc. after that, Stanley became one of my fav clubs, but as u can imagine, i never followed it much cause its impossible to me, all ive done is looking at the scores on livescore.com

Ian Craney was awesome that game, i still call him the League Two's Steven Gerrard ive celebrated when Accrington stayed at the L2, and i love the person who put the goals vs Macclesfield on youtube it was nice, Andy Procter is god

well, thats it.. i dunno if ive done it in the right thread, i just wanted to explain what a brazilian guy is doing here, as ive never been to Accrington, not even England, and only watched one game till these days... and i think if i was in your position (ASFC fan from Accrington), i would like to know that someone from another continent likes my team..

Ian Craney - League Two's Steven Gerrard, I like it!!

I've only been following Stanley for...let's see...about 4 years, Andy Gouck's strike against Huddersfield proving why the FA Cup is so magical. I played football the next morning shouting 'Dean Calcutt!', 'Rory Prendergast!' and 'Andy Gouck!' whenever I had a shot, bewildering my mates and they had no idea what I was on about!
I continued to follow Stanley with more and more enthusiasm, and managed to travel from my home in Middlesbrough to the FA Cup 2nd Round against Bournemouth with my dad and two of my mates. This match, my first Stanley match, is definately my favourite memory. It was freezing cold but we still had a right laugh, a mate of ours even phoned up to say we got on the telly! (come on, its exciting for a 14-year-old). The pitch invasion after we won the penalty shootout gave me a chance to shake hands with the players I'd been naming in my football matches and I loved every minute of it!
I've continued to go to as many games as possible (alongside working very hard at university of course!...*ahem*...) and I hope it continues!

Not the most interesting of stories but every little helps ey!

One idea that I'd like to include in the exhibition is to use a crowd shot from a key promotion game and get everyone who's in that picture to contribute a few words about their emotions at that moment or throughout that match.

I've selected this shot from Kipax's files (with his permission).

It's the Woking v Acc Stanley match where promotion became certain. Anyone able to recognise faces in the crowd?

thanks a lot as ive said in other thread, i have big plans of going to England next year so i tell u when its closer, would be nice to watch a game with u maybe i could take with me my little bro to play in Stanley and give u some of the brazilian talent lol

i remember watching accystanley when jimmy harrower was a player (only

remember that cos i had a teenage crush on him) very vague on other

matches, apart from being clobbered by the ball a few times last year at the

matches i went too

Many thanks for the replies Ive had so far - will be keeping in contact & if anybody wanting to be involved with the exhibition to volunteer anything there is a meeting on the 7th Jan 2008 to remind anyone whom got a leaflet or to those that haven't - pm for more details.

knew i should have made notes last night.

Was at a party found out why my cousin supports man utd - he was a stanley supporter and when they went belly up in 62 he started supporting man utd because they were red and white!!! lol I'll give him a ring at his sisters later on and tell him about this forgot last night had other things on my mind cos he goes home saturday. Oh and went to peel park every home match.

He's both. Born and Grew up Haslingden but a few years ago got moved to Poland with work, then France and now back in Poland but he still has his house in Helmshore so hes both!!!!
