Re: shirt colours

Stanley were founder members so they didn't adopt anything. The adopting was done by Man United etc.

And it seemed a good idea at the time.

Re: shirt colours

Posted via Mobile Device Stanley were not founder members of the football league. At all. It was merely Accrington.

Correct
Accrington folded as a football club. Accrington Stanley began life some years later originally as Stanley Villa

Re-formed....

Only pedantics pick up on this most boring of facts... Each club has been a professional League club playing on behalf of the town of Accrington. Different legal entities, different boards, different directors & owners, different forms with the League etc etc

Our history is a proud one, for all three flavours of ACCRINGTON!!!!

Re: shirt colours

Or people could point to that club is living on other people's glories.

Re: shirt colours

past glories?

I like the idea that we have only been playing competitve football for 39 years (from the park leagues) and have already got this far! I wonder what is the quickest that a club has gone from the bottom league to the FL? And I wouldn't count Aldershot in that as they inherited a fanbase of 4000 with which to buy the earlier leagues

Posted via Mobile Device Saying that Stanley were founder members of the football league.

Nothing pedantic about saying they weren't, 'cos in all honesty Stanley did not form the league. They are two different teams, with their own honours and achivements.

Re: shirt colours

Without Jack Walkers Millions, Accy 1968 would probably have a local derby a lot closer than Morecambe, Bury or Dale............

Spot on Willie. I watched Stanley in 50's and 60's and as far as I am concerned the present Stanley and the past Stanley are the same.
