Re: Shrewsbury

At 1-1 I thought the third goal of the game was going to be pivotal to tonight's result and it was the Shrews who got it (though it did look ten country miles offside!). However that said we were ultimately punished for our own failures. We failed to replace Kevin Long's height, we failed to attack balls put into the box, and we failed to adapt our game for the terrible pitch conditions. Their 'keeper was fantastic and if he hadn't been in goal, perhaps we'd have grabbed an all important second goal. However with lacklustre performances from McConville and Putterill in particular, our attack was not at full strength.

Man of the match - the lionhearted Sean Hessey. Fantastic performance.

Villain - the ref. Mr Sargison needs to wake up and realise that even battles of games can be fair battles and should be allowed to be played! Infuriatingly whistle-happy.

Re: Shrewsbury

Well massively poor performance, probably our worst of the season for me.

Granted the ref was very poor but it didnt hide from the fact we were garbage.

Proccy???? What actually did he do all game??? Outmuscled, out played, and was frankly awful for me tonight. How he stayed on the pitch instead of putterill is beyond me.

Murphy??? Ok so Winnard was ill but why?? We have Leam and Bateson (WHO!!!??) who are both superior players at right back in my and alot of others opinion. We have seen it before, he is NOT a Right Back, and is simply not quick enough, clumsy and looked out of his depth again and again. Soon as the Shrews cottonned onto this almost every attack came down that side.

Only positives were Gornell scoring another, and Jimmy Ryan run himself into the ground, again. Oh and Rory Boulding looked fresh for a whole 5 minutes at the end and it was only a great save that stopped him from scoring a screamer. WHY wait so late to change it???

Oh well roll on Saturday !!!

Re: Shrewsbury

Some great points shaker.

Thought Hessey was a man mountain at times, but my word how we missed Long at the back.

Agree with everything apart from your first sentence as I thought our play up to the box was pretty good. I also think you are being unfair to Proccy, who I thought gave his usual battling performance.

Re: Shrewsbury

I think a bit of credit has to go Salop, they came to do a job which they did by getting bodies behind the ball and countering quickly

Helped by some funny refereeing desicions it was a classic smash & grab

As others have said we played some nicey nicey football without the end product

Dissapointing performance probably not helped by a very heavy pitch but it's the same for both sides.

Agree about Hessey looking the part seamlessey slotting back into the back four but too many others of the pace I am afraid

Ah well Saturday beckons and the Bulls

Re: Shrewsbury

Have to agree with Smudgie. Should have been Bateson instead of Winnard tonight. No pride, no passion and a lack of muscle in all departments except for Hessey and Edwards tonight. If its a squad lets have a shuffle and give Boulding Joyce etc a chance. Some players look complacent knowing they will be in the starting 11 week in week out IMHO.

Re: Shrewsbury

Hi all
A bit more reaction from the game here. The post match thoughts of Joe Jacobson

My thanks to Callum and Jordan for providing this content. I suspect we may need a better camera though!

Spot the deliberate mistake in the video... (MY mistake, not those doing the filming!)

I think Sean has improved massively this season mate, you only have to look at his goals column to see that.

But I believe Proccy & Murph where the main culprits last night.

Re: Shrewsbury

Agree and to be honest Murphy didnt play well in his last start either probably do him good to get more experience, maybe go out on loan for a while and gain confidence, too many balls just hoofed out of play for my liking. If Long is going to be out we need a replacement fast.
