Re: shrewsbury game
Finished 3-3
Good, spirited performance, but we gifted them a couple of goals.

Re: shrewsbury game
Ref was very poor, their penalty was a blatent dive, and for their second goal the no 29 controlled the ball with his hand when he got the ball.
Their no 29 was a nasty piece of work, high tackles and elbows were his forte, the ref never seemed to see any of it, and their number 10 should go to see a doctor regarding his balance.
A well taken goal by Rocky for our third.
Jacobson played fantasticly, I for one would like to see him continue on the left wing. He is also very good from the dead ball.

Re: shrewsbury game
Yes, Drummond did play and a few of us knew who he was.
He did ok, but he didn't dominate in any way.
BTW.... the Shrewsbury penalty was called correctly. Asamoa was definitely tripped in the area.

Re: shrewsbury game
The ref was a disgrace and should be reported for being an arsehole, the linesman was blind as a bat and I’m not sure if he was actually watching the game. That Hand Ball was an absolute joke, the lads can’t really be blamed for that, they must have been totally gutted to see the ref ignore it and the idiot on the line should have been shot.
A point well won in my view those that didn’t come and those that left early missed out in my view, a win no. A valid return by Accrington Stanley definitely. On Stanley on. 17th on the table and moving in the right direction…

Re: shrewsbury game
For what its worth I thought a penalty was always on the cards. Yes he did make a bit of a meal of it and but then again he shouldnt have been allowed to get in that position so early.
The second goal..well you cant disguise the fact that it was Dunbavins error. The ref and linesman where behind play as they like us probably expected, as usual, the ball to soar gracefully over the cowshed into someones back garden when he made an a complete mess of the kick and gifted them a goal. Yes there may have been an element of handball but none of the players shouted too much ( Dunbavin included and he was facing the same way as most of us and had, lets face it, more interest in a freekick being awarded than most ). There third goal was from what I could see a good one.
There were though I thought a lot of positives to be gained from this game. Stanley never stopped battling and never looked beat even when the late third goal went in.
The second goal was well worked and Rocky took the third well.
I thought McGivern when he came on looked sharp, always dangerous and willing to run at their defence. Hopefully John will find him a place in the starting eleven against Milton Keynes ( he could work well with Mullin as he seems capable of doing the incisive running on and off the ball and getting in some penetrating crosses...and lets face it Mully could do with some solid support to work off )
I even thought the four minutes of added time was for once in Stanleys favour as we had them rocking at that point ( why did we bring a sub on and lose some of the momentum that had been building....ah well I moaned last time when Coley brought on an attacker for a defender after going down to ten men and then losing the game and we did get a vital point today so what do I know ). Anyway there is a light at the end of the tunnel that may not be the proverbial oncoming train.
Thanks for listening

Re: shrewsbury game
Have to agree with most points above having been at the match. IMHO Robbie Elliot should now be given a go in goal after Bavs had a howler for their 2nd goal and then compounded it by throwing the ball at the ref in the second half and was lucky to get away with a booking. I have to say we completely outplayed Shrewsbury for the majority of the game and got a point for our troubles. How the defender who brought down Paul Mullin for our penalty in the first half stayed on the pitch I do not know, he was clearly the last defender and PM was through on goal, should have walked. Fortune-West (No 29) was an absolute disgrace all match and got away with everthing as did the diving and cheating Asamoah and I have to disagree TM it was a blatant dive. We got very little out this official and what was even more laughable, during the second half, the ref blew for a foul against one of our players and 4-5 seconds later as the ball trickled over the sidelines the liner flags for a throw to us even though the kick had not been taken. Personally, I think JC was a bit naive this afternoon and should have had McGivern on far sooner that the last 10 or so minutes. Mangan played well but tired early in the second half. Congrats to Phil Edwards on getting his first Stanley goal. Very poor crowd again, we need another red and white fortnight before next Saturday to try and pep up the crowd figures. (and before anyone says it, I know it is only a week away). Not sure what Rocky's position was today but a flare footballer he ain't, however, he has to be forgiven, that sublime goal at the end of the match was one for the scrap books (good to see the ref play on here. One time he called it right)

Blame it on the recent bad run we've been having... Failing that,I'll blame it on the French, like I do for anything else that goes wrong.

Re: shrewsbury game
Well from ten yards away it looked like a pen to me, needless, but still a pen.
I, too, have a thing about Coley's substitutions, Jacobson noticeably tired after his excellent spell in the second half and the Shrews were dominant, either Byrom on, or push Mangan out wide and bring McGivern on, very similar to Hartlepool situation.
Yes a few good signs; but 3 bookings, Ventre 3 in 3 starts, Dunbavin's 4th this season and totally pathetic, Welchy's 8th plus one dismissal.
But I thought the worst thing was Jacobson getting stick from some supposed supporters in the first half. FFS, give the lad a chance.

Thought Danny's was a tad unlucky as he seemed to get the ball, Welchy on the other hand deserved his and how Bav's stayed on the field I do not know. We actually had 5 players booked and could well be in trouble from the FA.
Your right, Jacobson was enlightening and one of the better players before he tired. Mangan was getting stick from the main stand for trying to run through players instead of passing the ball, which IMHO would have been the better option.

Re: shrewsbury game
Their penalty was a penalty however soft. The second goal was handball but the ref and lino would not have seen it from their position and to be fair you can't expect fortune-west to own up to it after bav's blasted his shocker of a kick straight at him. on a better note McGivern had a great game (the little time he had) and i will be amazed if he doesn't start next week. A real 110%er.

Re: shrewsbury game
In defence of Bav, OK it was a howler, but our defence was firing howitzer back passes at him the whole game and putting him under severe pressure. Did he not also make 2 stunning saves late on to stop the Shrews wrapping things up?
Surely McGivern has to start next week - he looks dangerous and aggressive running at defenders, a real handful who tested their goalie with a great strike during his short spell on the pitch. I thought Rocky looked lost out of position in midfield, though, although it was a real quality finish for the goal - how many times do you see those sail over the bar?
100% effort again from the lads - how anyone can leave before the end in a tight finish is something I can never, ever understand.
