Sligo Update

Congratulations to Paul Cook's Sligo Rovers who finished 3rd in the Irish league so qualify for Europe once more. They've already won the EA Sports Cup Final (Sportsfile - Sligo Rovers v Monaghan United - EA Sports Cup Final Photos | page 1) (Is that the league cup?) and they're in the Irish Cup Final against Shamrock Rovers on Sunday 14th.

Rommy's still there and seems to have had quite an impact. And Danny Ventre's there too.

Re: Sligo Update

Evil picked up an ankle injury in preseason and apparently asked to be released rather than sitting on his butt and taking his money. From what I hear its a nasty one and could be a finisher for him.

Unlike another ex-Stanley player who (allegedly) picked up a season and a bit's wages from Sligo after breaking his leg and knee-cap in a car smash and then moved elsewhere.

Re: Sligo Update

Quick update, Sligo won the cup on penalties.

A comment from one of the irish papers

Quote:
In Romuald Boco and Joseph Ndo, Sligo had the two most technically talented and entertaining players on the park.

Match report:
War of the Rovers is won by the West - The Irish Times - Mon, Nov 15, 2010

There were two ex-Accy players in Sligo's starting eleven, Rommy and Danny Ventre.

Re: Sligo Update

Rommy's now with Shanghai East Asia FC, presumably brushing up on his Shanghainese and Mandarin.

Their website is at ????????????? - ???? and, for anyone struggling to find his photo, Rommy's squad number is 5.
