Smithy not sure whether to stay or go
Report in tonights Evening Telegraph reports that Smithy is unsure whether to stay with Stanley or go to one of the clubs that have offered him regular first team football (barrow, Stalybridge or Harrogate Town). Basically he is thinking that he is not the first choice.
For me, I say stay, not only have you been a loyal servant to the club, but you have played well for us and are a fans favourite (most of them anyway). I appreciate that he wants to play every week, but even Rooney at Man U cannot expect that and JC like most managers has a squad rotation system to prevent burnout. Stick with it Smithy, you are passionate about Stanley as you showed against Gravesend last weekend. You have the pride in the shirt and hopefully that pride will keep you at the most famous non-league club (not for much longer)

Re: Smithy not sure whether to stay or go
I hope to see your career continue to grow, whilst wearing a Stanley shirt!
It's your call, but don't jump at the first offer of regular football, I would recommend that you see out this season and continue as a Conference player!
Best of Luck, keep YOUR faith!!

Smithy
As a full timer next year you will be a fl 1 or what ever they call it now player with Accrington Stanley, taking them back to the big time, I know we were never that big but give me a bit of latitude, How cool is that?

Re: Smithy not sure whether to stay or go
I have been among Jonathan's strongest supporters and, unlike those who said they didn't think he could play Conference football, always KNEW he could. This man IS pure Accrington Stanley distilled. Therefore I say, with the heaviest of hearts, pursue your career elsewhere Smithy. I predict you will be playing League football before very long as your talent merits. Some have recently been seeing the light here but, unfortunately, they are not the ones that really count. Go where you will be fully appreciated by all the fans and management alike. My personal very best wishes and thanks for everything you have done for this club which, ultimately, rather let you down.

Re: Smithy not sure whether to stay or go
Although he hasn't always been treated fairly lately at the club I really hope Smithy stays, he is Stanley through & through and I would hate to see him go and if he does make the decision to leave I know it'll be a big wrench for him & the fans.

Re: Smithy not sure whether to stay or go
I agree with everyone and say stay at Stanley a while longer Smithy.I have always said I thought he was good enough for the Conference and I still do, with injuries and suspensions he's bound to play a regular part in the 1st team. One thing which makes him stand out for me and others alike is his passion for the club which I think comes also from being a local lad and playing for his home town.
If you leave Smithy you won't get that feeling anywhere else cos you only have one home !! Stick it out mate for at least the season you've packed your job in for the chance of being a profesional footballer why would you want to go part-time again ?? Just stick in there and battle it out, 'things always come to those that wait'.
Good Luck
