Soccer School - Disgraceful

So my brother walks in from the Soccer School 45 mins early 'because the coach turned up early' Which meant many kids waiting around outside the club until 4.15 when they should have been dropped off.

There was NO ADULT SUPERVISION of the group

Two youth team players took the whole group in the morning, & it gets better after dinner...

Two 14 year old kids taking charge of around 30 children.

It's almost laughable!! If the club is going to run this sort of thing then they better do it properly - you don't run courses for kids this unprofessionally for too long without being found out & authorities coming down on the club like a tonne of bricks.

....& there's no one to complain to at the club because they're all in Scotland!
Nice one.

Re: Soccer School - Disgraceful

we had a few problems with the soccer school today, i will look into the points you have raised but i must correct you on a couple of your points which simply aren't true.

there was adult supervision on the course, and the two 2nd year youth programme students you referred to who were used for part of the session were both fully qualified coaches and 17/18 years old, not 14.

finally i have been here all day, along with three other members of the office team here. i would have been only too happy to listen to your concerns, and infact make a point of getting involved when problems are brought to our attention.

With respect Rob, that is not entirely true.

The two 'fully qualified coaches' were only there in the morning.
They left with all the other youth team players at lunch.
After that, the course was taken on by two 14 year olds, and Matthew who is a nice lad but not qualified in the slightest to coach all those young kids.

There was no adults on the coach apart from the driver. Which is unacceptable.

At least own up to a mistake

Thanks for the info Shakermaker, if even a bit of this is true and I suspect it is I was thinking of letting my lad go today but now I'm more than happy we decided on something else.

What you are saying is untrue as well!
Matthew is a fully qualified FA Level 1 coach and possesses the badge to prove it, he is also taking his level 2 badge in the near future. So he is qualified to coach kids football, his badges back this up.

He may well have a coaching badge, however that does not excuse the fact that Matthew wasn't even on the coach with the rest of the children!
If an accident would have happened on the coach do you really think the 14 year olds could have coped/taken charge?
It's unproffessional & probably illegal to leave those children on the coach with no adult supervision.

How would you feel in a parents position knowing this information?
It's high time this club stopped doing things on the cheap & got things like this sorted.
